8 made. It was styled by Marcello Gandini, which is pretty obvious once you know it.

Side lights or full headlights? I'll do you a deal, have something set up like the 944, lenses to show the headlights through the bumper.

Pop-up headlights have a lot of bad effects, appart from the strong possibility of failing to open. They are aerodinamicaly awfull, they rarely look decent when opened, etc.. But the two worst aspects are:
1. not being able to flash your lights during the day: when you want to give the way on a junction you have to wave to the to other driver.
2. no being able to see holes and any other small obstacles on the pavement at night, specially when cornering. The headlights hide a lot of your view angle.

1. That's what fog/driving lights are for -- a simple mod
2. wtf ? If you're looking at the point in the road hidden by the profile of the headlight then either they are HUGE headlights or the driver isnt' very good at planning their driving

But ... the REAL worst aspect is why the governments banned them ... they kill people

1. Stick some fog lights on a Miata and you end up with something really strange.
2. Try driving a car with big healights and a very low driving position (Miata ) and going around some tight corners.

Although the pop up headlights aren't great aerodynamically when they're up, they still look good. I loved them when they were on my father's Integra hatchback.

Didn't even come back down, so that wasn't an issue at all.
