I love Chris Bangle, he gives BMW the 'different' element.

The headlights is the dead giveaway. Also the lighting and shaved door handles.

BMW 6-series (new)

BMW will be introducing an all-new 6-Series coupe based on the Z9 concept sometime in the 2003 model year, with a cabrio variant arriving a year later. The two-door 2+2 will fall in between the new 5-Series and the upcoming new 7-Series.

Although this replaces BMW’s 8-Series, the new sleek sports car will be called the 6-Series. As such, BMW hopes to bring back memories of their successful 1976-1989 6-Series coupe.

The appearance of the new 6-Series will be quite impressive: trademark double round headlights, a shark-nosed grille, huge 19inch wheels and a fat rear spoiler.

A mix of sports car features and high-tech delights will dominate the interior: round instruments, a huge colour display and the iDrive operation system, partly replacing buttons and switches. The iDrive system works like a computer mouse, allowing access to the navigation system, climate control, onboard-computer, audio, Internet and telecommunications, as many as 700 functions.

The new coupe and cabrio will sport a wide range of engines. BMW’s 3.5-litre V-8 will develop 270 bhp; a 4.5-litre V-8 will deliver 340 bhp. An M6 with 430 bhp, as well as a six-cylinder variant, with 231 bhp will be coming later. It is expected that the coupé will show its face in late 2002 and the cabrio six to eight months later as a 2004 model

sorry could not load the pics

Funny... 2003 model year is pretty much over, and there's no signs of the 6-series anytime soon...
