2005 Bmw M5

Ok, the reviews are in. The new all new 2005 v-10 BMW M5 has arrived (at long last). 507 hp, 5 Litre V10 engine; scampers up to 60 miles well under 5 secs (I think 4.4or something)..apparantly handles like a dream..does it blow away the competition? Any thoughts...

I'd comission an M5 touring, just because I am difficult, and need somewhere for the dog.

IMHO the E60 Touring looks better than the Saloon anyway.

It is probably the only BMW out of the current line-up that I would seriously consider if I had that sort of cash rattling around.

Yes. It should be on the showroom floors early next year... mid next year for U.S.

Supposedly the CLS55 did put up some reasonable competition, even though it has a bit less power. Can't believe can get 4 seater saloons capable of such sportiness, 507hp!!

Yeah I don't know what's up with BMW's new design team. Back in the day 1991-2001 BMWs were the best looking saloons around. Now..they have a love-me-hate-me look and I am definately leaning towards hate. But all the reviews that I have read on the car say that it is almost perfect as a driver's car and I gotta respect that.. Aparantly BMW claim that if you delimit the car, it will reach 204 miles per hour. That's faster than most TVRs, 911 turbo, GT3, most Ferraris, all Aston Martins.. well you get the picture..
But as you said all that pinnicilistic engineering packed inside that ugly styling..

Fantastic performance, crap looking

I agree, this car is probably fantastic to drive and on the stats that I have read beats the M5 it replaced by a good margin BUT..... it has to be one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. BMW, it is now time to sack the design team and start fresh.

I read the reviews and I am curious to see how improved SMG really is. I drove a Z4 on the race track in Fontana california and it totally bogged off the line. I was really surprised how it sucked. As long as I was in Gear it was good but shifting it sucked. I want to see how this thing handles. I do think that the best M5 of all time was the one before this new one. I had the good looks, sounds, speed, and dominant presence. The new one is kinda weird looking still in my mind. I cant get over the design, it isn't an easy one to swallow. They went from great to poop. Oh well. Have to wait for the next one. It will be even bigger and hopefully better in performance and looks!

OK I want to be fair so I have to say I can live with the rear end of the car. The thing is the front loooks like some kind of animal or creature that is smiling at me or maybe its like a weird skull. The front is weird. I dont want to add fire to a flame that will kill BMW. I appreciate their cars and think they are some of the best out there. I just dont care for the newer designs and that is because I am probably not hip to the times and stuck in the past. We all have to open our eyes to the possibility that we are narrow-minded because we are stuck in the past with the designs that are market and test-proven. Correct me if I am wrong, it is just a thought.
