During the long, lonely and potentially boring evenings in Central Asia last month I had a good opportunity to sort out my shots for 2009. I made a selection of the shots I like (which also run as my screen saver) and although 2009 isn't over yet, I will start now with posting the results. No serious editing went into this effort. (resizing Irfanview and sharpening)
Most shots are from the CER/LMS races in Spa, Barcelona and the Nuerburgring, from the Modena Trackdays, the Goodwood Revival meeting and the Monterey Historics. Shots include cars but also people, which tend to be sometimes neglected. An occasional plane will pass by as well.
I have let Microsoft determine the random order of the shots, just as they appear during the screen saving.
Today we'll have the first 36. (And I am planning quite a lot)
Enjoy.

#1: The 2008 Speedy Lola Aston Martin in Barcelona, running almost as fast as the later works cars during the LMS season. Although the Gulf colours ar2 nice, I think this livery is even better looking.
#2: The Byers Volvo a regular at the Monterey Historics
#3: The first appearance of the Pescorolo LMP1 Mk2, with new aero package in Barcelona
#4: The Porsche 911S 2.5 in the Corkscrew, owned and driven by Roy Walzer who has a nice fleet of historic racers
#5: The 2009 Speedy Lola LMP2 in Barcelona
#6: Jochen Mass in the Bamford Lancia D50 recreation, in the chicane at Goodwood. No harm done this year....

Welcome to Fiesta S2000

The Fiesta S2000, M-Sport and Ford's first global rally car, which will be eligible to compete in national rally championships around the world as well as the IRC and S2000 World Cup, is due for homologation in January 2010.

Continuing their close relationship with Ford, the team at M-Sport has worked in tandem with Ford's Motorsport Technical Manager Mike Norton and the Ford small car design team that developed the acclaimed kinetic design of the Fiesta road car, to develop a dynamic and aggressive looking rally car.

The experience gained from developing the record-breaking Ford Focus RS WRC has been used by the M-Sport team to develop the Fiesta S2000 rally car while working within the new FIA Sporting Regulations which means that this car can be used by customers at both national and international level.

The Fiesta S2000 is the latest in a long line of rally cars produced as a result of the successful partnership between M-Sport and Ford, starting with the Escort Cosworth in the 1990s and moving on to the record breaking Ford Focus RS WRC and Ford Fiesta ST.

It follows hot on the heels of M-Sport's extremely successful two wheel drive Fiesta R2, which was launched earlier this year and has already taken class victories in rallies across Europe.

The arrival of the Fiesta S2000 means that together Ford and M-Sport offer a complete ladder of opportunity for rally competitors to graduate with Ford from national level right through to the WRC in Ford cars.

On December 12th 1959 Jack Brabham pushed his Cooper T51 across the line at Sebring for a fourth place finish in the United States Grand Prix. That gave the Australian enough points to win his first World Championship. It also secured the Constructor's Championship for the Cooper team. History was written that day as it was the first World Championship for a mid-engined car as well as the first time a customer engine beat major manufacturers the likes of Ferrari and Maserati. Cooper's revolution had immediate effect as no other front-engined machine ever won the championship again. The T51 represented the fourth evolution of the single seater introduced halfway trough 1956. The lack of a proper engine prevented the team to compete in Formula 1 on a relatively level playing field until 1959. This was finally made possible by the arrival of a 2.5 litre version of the Climax engine, which proved to be the final piece of the puzzle. Today we celebrate Cooper's revolution and Brabham's heroic efforts at Sebring with a detailed look at the highly influential Cooper T51 Climax.
This year's Formula 1 season also saw a new team take home the trophies at their first attempt. News of a Mercedes-Benz take-over earlier this week also means it was Brawn GP's only attempt. Their Mercedes-Benz engined BGP001 propelled Jenson Button to six wins in the opening seven races. Rubens Barrichello added two more victories during the team's fairytale season. For most of the pre-season, it looked like there would be no team at all after Honda had announced its withdrawal from Formula 1 at the end of 2008. Team principal Ross Brawn eventually found enough funding to take over the team and just a few weeks ahead of the first Grand Prix the BGP001 was rolled out. It immediately impressed during testing and Button and Barrichello caused a major upset by finishing first and second at the team's debut. The BGP001 was the big star of the most surprising Formula 1 season in many years. As a 'Silver Arrow', Brawn will enter the 2010 season with two new drivers as Barrichello and Button will move to Williams and McLaren respectively next year. It will be very interesting if the impressive form can be maintained.

The racing porsche GT3s dating back to 1999 have all been top of the classes but the question is "which class?". What I really mean is, what are the differences between racing R/RS/RSR and "CUP" models. Is it just that the cars with R in the name somewhere are much more modified and are purely racer whereas CUP is closer to showroom condition? Are RSRs more technically advanced, more expensive, faster, noisier etc than CUP cars?

Arash AF-10 website intro MetA: MANY images in med-res especially the car "explosion" is neat ( am trying to get in hi-res )

Arash Sportscars was born out of the passion for cars, the enchantment of beauty and the thrill of driving the seemingly endless acceleration of a thoroughbred engine.
The engine or shall we say the soul of the car is designed to withstand the punishment of motor racing, and we're sure will excite even the most accomplished driver.
The superlative handling of a chassis designed by leaders in theor field, and braking performance so forceful you question whether the tyres will still be intact when you climb out.
And whether you're approaching or leaving a silhouette that seduces and excites.
From a dream to concept, and from concept to reality, Arash Sportscars no longer exists as a dream, it is a reality.

History

Arash Cars was established in March 2006 and has been working on the AF10 ever since.
The styling drawings were made in March 2005 by Arash Farboud Designs and have since been converted into computer models and aerodynamic cfd mesh models.
The company is located in Sawston on the outskirts of Cambridge. Most testing will be conducted at Millbrooke proving grounds 20 miles away from the company. The facility in Sawston Cambridge is equipped with a styling studio, painting booth, carbon lamination room, parts despatch area, carbon curing autoclave oven and polished epoxy floored car assembly stations. A board room and administration offices are also located at the site.
Arash Cars have designed a traditionally shaped badge with an eagle emblem. The background colour is solid black and the foreground eagle is in gold. The 'Arash' emblem is in flame orange.
