LA MARQUE, Texas - A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

The Lufkin, Texas, man told of driving his luxury, French-built Bugatti Veyron when the bird distracted him, said La Marque police Lt. Greg Gilchrist.

The motorist dropped his cell phone, reached to pick it up and veered off the road and into the salt marsh. The car was half-submerged in the brine about 20 feet from the road when police arrived.

Gilchrist said he doesn't know if the car was salvageable, but in his words, "Salt water isn't good for anything." He says the man, whose identity hasn't been released, was not injured.

Celebrity driver
The police declined to release the driver's name, although the incident has drawn a great deal of attention on his vehicle.

The Houston Chronicle reported the Texan has become something of a celebrity. He reportedly told the Texas City wrecker driver who towed his car that California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called him Wednesday, along with several other celebrities.

“He said he was getting so many calls that he finally stopped answering his phone,” said wrecker driver Gilbert Harrison of MCH Truck and Auto, which is storing the car.

But Harrison said the driver seemed to take his very expensive mistake in stride.

“He was calm,” Harrison told the Chronicle. “If it had been me, I'd have been cussing, but he was calm. I imagine inside he was probably pretty upset.”

The Bugatti Veyron is the fastest and most expensive production car in the world.

A 2006 Bugatti Veyron was recently offered for sale in Jonesboro, Ark., for $1.25 million.

There are active working forces in our day to day life that have enabled a tentative equilibrium in today's day to day society. It is common place to grumble about veiwed social injustices without reasoning or looking at the underlying causes without enough situational analysis. My most recent feud or beef was with the patent system. I fully support the cause of the P2P cause, it is unimaginable that media cost has bludgeoned to such heights that the average poor to middle class family cannot afford two hours worth of entertainment per week. They say that the producers and cinemas have similar financial stresses too but that is horse crap, even with the recession at its worst most report that monetary hiccups in the film industry was negligible prompting forums and journalist to comment that the film industry was “ at worse, recession-resistant and, more optimistically and historically, has actually been recession-proof.”

However there is also the flip side of the patent system where it regulates effectively. I had recently bought After market control arms for my acura which was a big deal for me. These front upper control arms for my Acura integra would offer quick change camber capabilities which are approximately worth 0.05 to 0.15 g on a lateral skid pad and worth about 3-5 seconds on a well suited 2 minute track. However due to stupidity and lack of money, I decided not to buy a brand name item and instead buy a cheaper imitation item that offered similar capabilities. Taking great pain and effort, I installed these arms on my car, I had to borrow jacks and working space from a friend, skip classes in school and deal with many other quibbles during installation but I finally did it. However the problems that cropped up after wards were so tiresome and seemingly unsolvable that I got fed up and six months from purchase I had to remove and discard the arms. First there was not ample suspension play room, this was due to incompatibility with lowered cars and the inferior design of said product i.e. placement of quick change camber adjustment screws was in the wrong place, so I had to increase the front ride height at the expense of my struts. Second there was irreparable damage to my drive shafts during installation process which caused me to shell out a considerable amount of cash for replacement of said shafts, all due to no installation procedures from control arm manufacturer. Third the product itself with its flawed design was not built up to its own flawed specification. The screws were built out of a very malleable metal that did not have needed holding capabilities required to function consistently as such when I set the camber required for daily activities the screws holding the product slid and setting was lost in about 2 days time.

These problems had been solved by the brand name manufacturer's product due to regulations in patent system that made manufacturer accountable for his or her product. Sadly the product I bought was from a Taiwanese imitation manufacturer who used a loophole that did not require following the actions required by the regulation body for regular car parts manufacturers. These imitation companies are forcing real brand name companies with quality products like TRUST a.k.a Greddy (which went into bankruptcy this year) and HKS(which in 2009 is still going at a loss) out of business with their cheap imitation products.

As such the real situation is much more complex than imagined, Of course one could say that maybe one of these categories is wrong and the other is right, but putting moral opinion into solving this calamity is hard. If we look at the situation analytically, The bad guy in the each situation is still the good guy in some way, I am sure in Hollywood there are some Movies that went bust and/or some people out of jobs because of torrenting and I am also sure that this number is increasing almost exponentially due to growth of the P2P scene. It is also valid to assume in concern with performance market that if there were no imitation products, the brand item products prices would be much more higher due to absence of competition, I bet if the Patent law was patched right to disallow foreign cheap competition right now the prices of aftermarket performance parts would most likely rise, even quadruple like in the 1990's when the sports car imports from japan first became popular.

I am sure the Patent law system will likely continue evolving and engineering the market so that entertainment industry products can be cheaper for consumers and the market for after market performance parts will be more promising for the earnest businesses and consumers. However the girth of this essay is to point out the unapparent complexity of the situation in today's day to day living, and to advocate analytical steps into each and every cause or trend a person is associated or allies with.

I was looking for this new OS in order to resurrect my old Asus (with a new HD).
Downloaded the Ultimate 32 bit version, and installed in a 1.6 GHz Centrino with 768 Mb of RAM, 64 Mb of Video RAM , 30 Gb of storage.
It was supposed to take 16 Gb to install the OS, but it actually was satisfied with 9 or so.

Everything is running smoothly and quickly so far, win 7 is faster on that 5 years old machine than Vista SP1 on my one and a half year old Celeron...

The thing is, the wireless network doesn't work.
The good old LAN connection runs perfectly, while the Wi-Fi connection either doesn't see any network or it doesn't manage to connect to it.
The weird thing is that it doesn't see other wireless networks that are active over here, from my neighbors (at least 3, 4 with mine).

I've already run Win Update, downloaded drivers and looked for help in more indicated forums, with zero results.

So here I am, asking for suggestions. I thought everyone could post here their issues or reviews about the new OS, so feel free to share your thoughts.

Personally I don't like the ways it gets used by the tabloids.
And therefore I mean that it should not be public like this.
And it often gives a very wrong picture of how a persons economy is.

good Christian+true conservative=impossible?

Before I get into this i just want to preface that i know religion is a hot topic for everyone and things can get ugly pretty quick. lets try not to do that here, If you dont believe in God or just hate christianity lets keep that in another thread. lets try to keep this thread to the issue at hand and try to keep it civil.

here we go:

I try to read the bible every night before I go to bed, usually just a chapter a night. Something hit me like a ton of bricks a couple weeks ago and it has been driving me crazy since. I have thrown the question out to a few of my friends and most of them haven't had much to say in the way of a decent answer, additionally i have gone to some other message boards i post on from time to time but for the most part those guys are so thick that God himself could be standing in front of them saying "jesus was just some random guy, no relation" and it wouldn't change their mind about a single thing, so i figured I would turn to the one place where for the most part people are doubtful about religion to see if what i am saying makes at least some sense....

Here's my big problem. It seems to me that one of the major overall themes/messages/ideas/thing you should take away from it after reading it of the New Testament is that one of the major themes of the gospels is helping the poor, helping the sick, helping the needy, helping those who cant help themselves.

Thus it seems to me like outside of abortion and gay marriage and all that, when you get down to the core beliefs of the democrats (big government taking from the haves and giving to the have nots, free healthcare, compassion, pro illegal immigrant rights, ect...) and compare them to (what used to be) the core beliefs of republicans and conservatives in general (take care of yourself, keeping what you earn, the free market, survival of the fittest, you get what you pay for, work for your money, ect...). Jesus himself would probably vote democrat.

It becomes apparent that if the democrats became against gay marriage and abortion, Jesus would probably support the democrats if he was alive today or at the least the message from the bible at leans towards liberal ideals and away from conservative (real conservative, not neocon) free market ideals.

So here's my query: Imagine the democrats become staunch anti abortionists, and anti gay marriage.

I'm assuming most current "fundamentalist christians" would still be voting republican or some other form of conservatism. how would they reconcile this for themselves considering they would arguably be voting against the ideals of jesus as set forth in the gospels? or is it even possible?

I spent some time without my external and loyal hard disk, and I had to save all my images and other files on the notebook's hard drive meanwhile.
That wasn't a problem obviously, but in the process of updating the archive and moving the files from one HD to the other I accidentally deleted like 10 folders.

DAMN shift + canc...

The thing is, I don't even know what I deleted, as I thought I had selected the folders I had just emptied, while I actually selected those which still had files in them.

I tried a couple of programs, one was a complete failure, the other, called R-Studio, seemed to be good and all, with a top of the line release worth 800 $ (obviously I went for a torrent...), but it was a complete mess, perhaps it's a professional program I don't even understand how to make it work. It saved billions of files from the whole HD, renamed all these recovered files, changed the dimensions...a mess, as I said.

I used to have a good program when I was running on Win XP (now Vista), called File Recovery, which was quite simple and good.
The thing is, it doesn't work with the NTFS file system, only FAT.

Anyone had a similar experience and knows a way to sort it out?

I've run out of cookies, so this time I'm gonna give an e-hug:
