see....

I stop playing GT4 now after getting back into playing sim on computer, but I just remember a fully tuned 88C-V for me was almost undrivable...road car are too easy to push and as a result the time are all very similar on R5 tire...(actually I think some are on R3 as some cars I have trouble getting R5 to last 2 laps)

Why don't you look out your window?
Well, i'm back now so I'll have the times and the replay file as soon as possible, but i'll have to do some times again because I always forget arcade mode doesn't have autosave!

R3 tyres = Medium.

Soft is R4 and Super Soft is R5.

im using medium tyres as in terms of lap times soft or qualifying tyres dont offer much improvement. A 6:23 is possible with the current setup and medium tyres but it would be very hard to repeat.

I find R5 very hard to use for Nurburgring in anything other than a Suzuka GSXR-4 concept......the wear for regular car is too high that it goes away half-way into your hot lap after having to drive a whole lap before you timed-lap can start....

firstly... why havent i seen this thread before lol

secondly i do have to wonder how the hell you guys go so fast around here... i consider myself fairly good at this game and you guys make my times look fairly average... anyways i will post some of them up here

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR TME 2000
499Hp
6'49.175
(whats that... only 20 seconds slower than the rest lol)

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR MR 2004
553Hp
6'40.629
(yet again 20 seconds slower)

Nissan Skyline GTR VspecII Nur (R34) 2002
897Hp
6'24.639
(ok about 30 seconds now...)

My problem is i cant keep the cars on the ground! they like becoming planes and taking off =P (as shown by the pictures lol, ok yeah they not of a car i actually used for these laps but still it shows what happens as i attempt this track) its not very hard for me to pick up a wheel at the critical moment around a corner and have to catch it again.... was what happend with the skyline... having to take corners a lot slower jus because i couldnt catch the thing after it got unsettled... yeah

hah ! Not a GT fan of realism, but in this case in the real world you do all you can to KEEP the rubber on the ground. WHen you're flying you can't be accelerating or braking, so it's bad. Adjust suspension and line to keep it on the black stuff.
BTW, most of the 'rings kerbs are a no-no in real life, so keep off them in the sim I say

oh yeah... thats a given... i do know the basics of real life racing... have had several hours on the back of a 400cc racebike

its not jus the kerbs either... i do on the odd occasion make a mistake with the controller (makes life sooo hard... need a wheel) and touch a kerb and well yeah its all "hows your father" then but jus general ups and downs i cant seem to keep it on the ground... the picture (above) of the R32 is the perfect example... that is the little rise just before the sweeping corner down into the hairpin very early in the track... especially in the "tuned" cars i seem to be going so fast that no mater how loose i make the suspention it still picks that unweighted side up... the obvious answer is dont push so hard but then i come to the question of how the hell do the rest of you guys attack this coarse so fast and not get airborne every five seconds?

it frusterates me a lot... especially when you start using the very top cars like the Audi R8... very fast can get a very easy sub 5 minute in that car but again same problem... too easy to turn into a air-audi... errrr i mean airbus

I run my car on the soft side for the ring mainly to deal with the bumps.....I can't do the same stiff setup on regular racetrack as the car will just jump all over the place...

and downforce is your friend...add the rear wing to get downforce adjustment....
