The UCP GT4 Tuner GP

I figured this is probably a little to complicated to run as one of the standard GT4 Challenges, so we could just do it independently of them.

Here's how I think we should run it (and I am happy to do so):

Rules:

Any car is allowed (with the exception of race/rally cars and prototypes), with any level of tune but a maximum of Racing Medium tires (to simulate the stickiest of current borderline legal sticky track biased rubber) and no driver aids. The same car with the same modifications must be used for each round, i.e. no changing turbos over, but full set-up options.

The competition will be run over three events:

1/4 Mile (Oval)
Top Speed (Oval - on the top speed mode)
Handling (Autumn Ring - rewards balanced handling more than anything else)

Points will be rewarded as follows:

1st - 10
2nd - 9
3rd - 8
4th - 7
5th - 6
6th - 5
7th - 4
8th - 3
9th - 2
10th - 1

The idea being that good times across the board will be more important than getting a blinding time in any one event. Or we could add the times together?

I reckon the best way to do it will be for people to publish their intent to compete along with the car they'll be using, its weight, power and torque then we'll set an official entry date. After that point we'll set a closing date, before which all times have to be pm'd to me in order for points to be awarded.

Whadya reckon?

I think it's a very entertaining idea...

Are you allowed to change gear ratios between events?

He said no changing parts, but full set-up. So I'm assuming that you can change gear ratios, suspension settings, etc.

No cash limit??? I think it would be fun to have some kind of limit to see how far you could stretch your money... or maybe two classes ($$$ limit and unlimited).
Can setups be changed for the different tracks?
Why 1/4 mile in the oval not the 1/4 mile track?

Adding times sounds good... the best balanced car will win (i.e winning 1/4 mile would be least important towards end result).

Cool - no race cars/prototypes allowed (I did mean to write that in the original rules) your car must be a tuned original road car.

The idea is that all set-up bits can be changed, just not fundamental bits of the engine. For example, you can't run a stage 4 turbo for the 1/4 mile and top speed, then use stage 2 for the circuit to gain driveability, but you can change ratios, diff settings etc etc.

Yeah, unfortunately we are relying on some gentlemenly conduct with honesty of times, in terms of cutting corners.

OK, let's do it then. We'll call it 'Free' this time, so I won't put a limit on spending - I'll do two classses if we're up for another.

Let's say closing date for entries is Friday - publish your car, horsepower, torque and weight on this thread and pm me with that and an intent of entry. On Friday afternoon I'll publish the list of entrants on here and we'll say all three times should be pm'd to me before midday on Friday 12th May.

Meantime - I'll figure out some ideas for classes.

EDIT: 1/4 Mile and Circuit times will be added together and I'll figure out a time bonus for the top speeds

you could convert the top speed into a time by using an arbritrary distance, say 5 miles.

So if top speed is 200mph, thats 5/200 = 0.025 hrs, or 1.5 mins.....

sadly i wont be able to enter so soon, count me out of it for now.

You could call it GT4 Tuner Challenge.....

Yep, I like the speed idea Raza, I think I'll half the value though, otherwise we could end up in negative figures and I can't be arsed with base six/ten in negative. My feeble word brain couldn't cope!

This will be my car for the competition:

Evo 8 GSR 04

527bhp
478ft/lbs
1190kgs

Sorry dude, i havent done maths for while so prob didnt understand your point, but how can you get a negative? It'll get closer to 0 the bigger the denominator (top speed) is, but will reach 0 rather than negative from what I can see.

The reason I put 5 in was that the times around Autumn Ring will be in the 1'15 bracket im guessing, so this way they'll have equal weighting.....

Oh and the Evo is awesome!! Its brakes are immense! Used it in the GT4 Nurburgring Thread and it was plenty fast, but as you can see from the list... there were quicker cars!!

Im guessing you have to allow NOS as there's no way of checking....

And is this a one-off competition? Or will it be a regular affair, with people changing their cars?

Ah sorry - I thought you meant deduct the resulting time worked out from top speed from the 1/4 mile and Autumn Ring times - but on thinking about it that doesn't make sense!

Yeah, NOS will have to be allowed. I see no reason for it not to become a regular affair, I'm happy to run it if people are happy to enter it!

Oh and as for the Evo - this is a rather special one. I'm into the tens on the 1/4 mile at the moment and it is seriously quick around Autumn Ring. It's also easily a double-tonner, but I'm hoping to make most of my time on the circuit.

i'm not taking part but wouldn't it be better to go with you're original system of assigning points to the top ten places for each discipline and then having a total winner.

if you add the quarter mile time to the cicuit time then you mgiht end up in the situation where someone who ran a phenomenal quarter mile time would be edged out because they were "only", say, 10 seconds off across 13 miles on the circuit.
