Besides being launch titles, the PS3 is significantly harder to program for, than the 360 or Wii. Some developers have said they won't be able to exploit the full power of the PS3 until 2008.

Arent they all like that though? I can think of countless examples where games towards the end of a platform's cycle crap all over ones at the start. GT3 vs GT4, GTA3 vs San Andreas, NFS:HP2 vs NFS:MW...I can understand that especially with Gran Turismo, the programming can change alot due to the physics engine etc but theres still alot more they seem to be able to fit in there.

Naturally, launch titles will always be mediocre, because the developers are only just getting to grips with the new hardware. With a new system you always have to wait until around the 2nd or 3rd generation until you start seeing the system's real potential.

The PS3 is alot harder than both the others to program for. It's harware configuration is alot more complex. Nine core cell opposed to a three core for the 360. 256mb will also create a potential bottleneck effect. It is also ALOT more expensive to develop a game for the system. Recent reports suggest that the PS3 may not be as hard to program for as first anticipated, although it will still be hard nonetheless.

The first true next generation game we will see it Grand Theft Auto 4. Rockstar are not rushing the development phase to get it out for launch. instead, they got their dev kit August 2005 and won't have the game ready until the end of 2007, October.
