i think my absolute best was clipping the top of a building on the far side of the park, but the trajectory was so messed i don't think i would have got much further. haven't been able to do it again (trying to remember what vehicle i was in)
as it was the impact flung me out the front windscreen LOL

From what ive found, if you hit it front on youre guranteed to be thrown out of the car. The swing towards the north is also the best one to try and get distance from. The southern swing will hit more buildings and sometimes even the playground and sometimes you'll only be launched straight up it seems.

we tried with a bus (how many people can you actually fit in the bus?) on the southern swing, and all it did was levitate and then catch on fire iirc.
i'd still like to somehow get a helicopter onto it.

Biggest ive tried was a fire truck. I dont think ive even seen a bus yet. I tried to land an Annihilator on one of the swings, but it spat off the rotor when i finally landed. I might have to try with a Maverick as it should be smaller.

Mid-air car explosions are pretty cool though. I think i did 3 jumps with a single car and it blew up during the 4th.

yeah when it has a trail of flame on the second attempt with the forklift the cops hit the gas canister, so it looked jet propelled haha.
i'd like to try a mp match and try and cram everyone into a bus if it's possible lol.

Try an ambulance if the fire truck is too big. It flies like nothing else.

5 Reasons GTA IV Is The Worst Great Game Ever Made | Cracked.com
agreed mostly
the last point about simply creating the city and letting other developers build a game on it was particularly intriguing; i hope they do something like that in the future

On the whole that article is pretty true. Once you think about it, you realize that all he says is a pretty ripe description.

I was discussing how enjoyable the game is to play with a friend, but also how much better it could be. There is quite a lot to improve on. The repetition got to me but no matter how much I played it, it never got old. I think its because I'm in love with the driving

I seriously think the combat is a let down though. It's just lock on, shoot and hope to god you hit them before they hit you.. it ruins, no kills, the skill factor involved with getting the game finished in a time frame and/or finished at all. It's all just too easy. But if you play it with lock-on off, which is too much all at once, its practically impossible to fend for yourself in a 30 or so mobsters vs. Niko situation which is the usual story. Maybe Rockstar Games should take some advice from a proper combat involved game?

I honestly can't complain about the city. It rules supreme. Maybe its too good as it seems to be way out of the gameplay's league.

Maybe you need to aim? I didnt find it that hard.

Disagree about the cover system, never had any problems with it. The last point is well made, and I think ties in with Yahtzee's comments on how it'd been ruined a bit by going all gritty and realistic. But the rest of their points have been problems with the series since GTA3.

The first thing I did after I turned the lock-on off was aim -.- I just didn't like the whole system I guess, I mucked round with the sensitivity etc just wasn't for me

The Lock-on also has countless flaws. You don't always lock on to what you want to, sometimes you'll lock on to a target thats behind a wall etc when theres somebody pounding you with a shotgun 5 feet away.

neatly sums up it's forking awesome yet simultaenously crappy niggling bits nature of the game though.

Most of those issues dont bother me that much. OK, the one about getting into cars gets on my nerves at times but its really the only one ive encountered. The whole issue of having all those tasks handled by the jump button, i'd never experienced or even heard of. The cover system ive only really had minor niggles with, for the most part i dont realise its there to be used outside of the missions. The collision detection issue has been more of a laugh really rather than annoyance, but again i havent been doing anything multiplayer which seems to be where the bugbear is.
