The xbox has better graphics and online gameplay, but the ps2's games are just so much better that the graphics dont matter.
Take a look at gt4, could it look and play more realisticly?? My point exactly.

Gran Turismo or Project Gotham?

i say PS2 for driving games, but Xbox for shoot em up's!(halo)

1st Person Shooter-Xbox(Halo)
Espionage-Ps2(Metal Gear trilogy, 3rd one due this year!!!yea baby)
Driver-Ps2(GT3, Gt4 coming soon!)
RPG-Ps2(not into RPG's but i think Ps2 has it with Final Fantasies unless thats on all platforms. correct me please)
Sports-Either(no difference overall, mostly multiplatform sports games)
Other-(completly opinionated )

WOW, i can't wait for..

Metal Gear solid 3(PS2)
Grand Theft Auto 4 San Andreas(PS2-at least for 2 years or so)

I think that'll hold me until PS3, although im contemplating on buying an Xbox solely for Halo1-2, Ninja Gaiden, and Shinmu.

There was already a similar trehad to this one here but my vote goes to ps2 bacause haves the better car games like wrc3, gt3 and a lot of other good car games .... one more thing i don't like on xbox is the gamepad is very confuse becuase you have to use the analog stick ( i hate the analog stick )

I currently own an XBOX with all the games listed above(Halo, PGR(2)) and several other racing games. I have friends with a PS2 who have already reserved copies of GT4, if it turns out to be as good as it initially appears to be, I shall most definately be buying a PS2 to put beside my XBOX.
