Game Review #1

hello all,

just here to tell you about the latest Colin Mc Rae rally to hit the stores.

Game: colin mcrae 2005.
Players: 4 (alternate)
Avalable: Now
price: $100 AUD.

GRAPHICS:
the graphics are absolutely stunning, the screenshots dont do it justice. the graphics are on par with Richard Burns' rally, and over WRC 3 "extreme".
the smoke from the tyres are particulary good. the discs glow red hot and cool down very realisticaly.

GAMEPLAY:
the biggest difference between these two games is the handleing. its a mix between # 3's over reactive and #4's under reactive steering.
its a perfect balance.

The physics are very realistic, not richard burns's hardness, but very real.
the game is very easy to just pick up and play.

damage is realistic. could be a bit more crumple in the car though.

further information as the day goes on

hmm, I tried the CMR2005 download and found it to continue to be unrealistic in the handling of a rally car on gravel. I think it continues to be 'dumbed down' to make it a good game.

The Richard Burns handling is more accurate ( though still lacks body pitch affecting handling so in some corners just isn't 'there' ). I've not been able to try the CMR2005 optiosn to get the damage right - an area that RB is way ahead of CMR1-4 on.

Based on your recommendation I think I'll pick up CRM2005 and give it a better chance than the demo allowed.

HOWEVER, CMR is WAY AHEAD of RB on the cars availabel. Unlock all the cars and all the tracks and still it's only 8 cars - all similar. CMR offers Stratos and MGB so I had been hoping it was good. So I'm not letting the demo be my only guide thanks for the review

i shall elaborate, i just picked up the game last night, and i havent played it till now, ive played 7 tracks, and this is my review so far.
i can guarentee that some of my views will change during today.

anyway, RGB is i think trying to be too real. its great fun, but in most cases i want to be able to pick up a game and just have fun throwing it around on the track, RGB dosent really allow you to do that very well.

I also just rented the game, it seems pretty cool and I like how it has more than WRC cars on this one, but overall the game seems pretty much the same as CMR 03 (graphics and gameplay wise), not that theres anything wrong with that. I'm gonna have to practice a little more before i can start attacking the career mode, but the game is still pretty easy to just pick up and play.

to continue.

i just unlocked the cosworth Rs. escort, the blue and yellow one.
its insane. fast.. sweet.
the car selection is great.

sutton, i dont really agree with the gameplay, its very different to #3.
i have progressed through the first championship, and the AI is harder then previous games by a good 6 seconds. its ether that or my skills have droped.
