Question Best PS2 Rally game

Unless the gaming thread is made sticky, it'll soon scroll away. Not enough interest.

I've been wondering and have been too lazy to read the reviews. What is the best Rallying game for PS2? I don't judge games by the graphics but playablity. On a scale of one to ten, rate graphics and playability. Also state some other reasons you like or disliked it.

*Could be PC but then I'll need the peripherals. Olny have a flightstick from playing Aces of the Pacific, from when some of you were in diapies?

Aren't the dedicated Rally games better? I like GT3 but mostly for the road cars.

Germany -> West Germany -> NRW -> OWL -> GT
GT3/GT4 are good games, but the Rally-mode is not good (imo), I think WRC III and WRC IV are much better (sadly they are only available on PS and not for PC )

My experience is that noen of the console games manage to get reality right.
I think the games are tweaked to match the expectations of the major purchasers and most PS2/X-box players like arcade and 'bling'.

The games I've tried on PC and PS2 are night and day on realism.

Also the PCs the only one where Force-Feedback gives you anything useful to use in controlling the car.

I get the PS2 and XBox out for fun , but when it's "serious" I always return to the PC

example .. all the CMR series.

you can make fantastic times on many of the stages by sticking the car against the barriers and just flooring it.
Some of the barriers' are 'invisible' preventing you from going too far off track.
not tried CMR 2005 (yet) but Richard Burns is WAY more realistic. So far I can't get to the end of the Finish rally without losing a wheel and smashing suspension on the yumps. Gotta read them better and back off as in real life

How sad are we, this was in discussion over the beers on Saturday night.
We ALL reckoned that as they make the car and damge MROE realistic it becomes more important to be abel to adjust the co-drivers pace notes
So we wondered if any game developer would actually CARE about the intricacies of pace note improvement.
After a few times through I reckong I'll memorise the stage where the 3 yumps are and remember the best route. BUT it woudl be better to do it slower and adjust the pace notes and then go falt out. More realistic - which is what I get off on

Try to get to watch the current Irish Rallying tv prog on Discovery or Men&Motors.
Brillinat clip of Mk2 Escort, long straight with blind crests adn the nav SCREAMING at the driver to go faster. every time the driver backs of the nav just screams "faster, keep goin' in that way only Irish navs can manage

At least we dont' get blue screen of death in the middle of a stage

would do but cant . no sky, sont suppose you got it captured did you ?

when one of he guys in our club went to do the manx in his 6R4 they had to have all the newest safety quipment and if they didfnt have WRC spec suits etc they couldnt compete

but as soon as they got there they were allowed to use any fuel, run with no restrictors, full boost everything

and guess what the irish said, " we want good rally and if you crash we want you to be safe "
