When the SLR was launched it was said it was initally only going to be in silver and black.
At the time, M-B also launched their 'new' colour optiosn across teh whole M-B range gicing customers a wider choice. At the time it was reported that the SLR woudl be available in the additional 14 colours at a later date.

it's just that that later date never really was confirmed or arrived at.

SO both are right.
Personally I think the plan WAS to give more colours but as McLaren and M-B got more pissed off with each other it got dropped.

Maybe a slightly humbler response to CS might have been in order

You seemed to think this is a lie, fabricated for some absurd personal gain.

I pointed out that it is, in fact the truth.

OF COURSE you won't find any pictures of an SLR in any colour other than Silver or Black, because the paints have yet to be introduced as I said, several times.

If you ordered an SLR back in 2002/2003 when they started taking orders you would have the choice of the two colours, because they were, and AFAIK still are, the only colours ready for production.

If you place your order NOW, in 2005, you will probably be offered a wider choice, providing the information I was told is still correct.

I have been to the factory, and I was told that there will be more colours.
A range of 16, and the option for bespoke colours, obviously at a greater cost, as part of Mercedes' individualisation programme.

I will not justify myself any further to you - I have no need.
I know where I have been, what I have done, and what I have been told.

Clearly you have a massive problem, but I suggest that you put your arguments across in a more adult and erudite manner, because I am not going to put up with people accusing me of being a liar, and being spoken down to like a child.

I come to this website to learn about what is happening in the automotive world, find information and images of vehicles, and when I can give helpful information and advice.

I do not come here and post in the hope that people think "Wow! He's cool!" and make up fairy stories about owning a Nissan Skyline with 1,000bhp.

john doesn't believe conventry about the 16 colours. using the same argument why the f*ck should we believe him when he says there will only be grey and silver? conventry has more credibility in my books - i don't know john, even personal profile is vacant

You're so funny. It's like watching a bullheaded child that ignores the fact that there might be another truth.

It has been said that in the near future more colors WILL be available, is that really so hard to acknowledge? Do a google search, you'll find similar answers.

One of our most respected members went to M-B where he was told that the car will in fact be released in more colors yet you keep with the same 10 year old kid - argument.

BTW John, do you believe in God by any chance?

Prove to me your "silly" idea that there will only ever be two colours.

Go on I DARE you.
