To change gears, or not to change gears...

Well, I'm trying to decide whether or not to change the rear end gears in my Mustang. It's got 2.73's in there now, I have a 3.25:1 ring and pinion set in the trunk. Not doing it would save me about $400 cash, but I think it would be great to let the car go out with a bang, and it could prove a good selling point. What do you guys think?

The 3.25:1 gear set would give you a better selling point since the buyer will get a little faster acceleration. I'd say go for it

If I were looking to buy a used car such as this, I would feel much more comfortable doing the work myself rather than trusting someone I don't know to have done it correctly. So, if I were the buyer I'd rather buy the car with it's current setup and maybe purchase the parts from you with the car if I was interested.

True, but I won't be immediately selling it; I'll still be driving it for a while. I'll make sure it's all right, and I probably won't even bring up the change, really.

if you want to change, change it becuase it will give you better accleration, but hold on to the old one for when you sell becuase someone who buys might like the option of swapping over

I say change it, you can improve your numbers in all performance catagories by a bit. It may not be that much but it will still make you rmustang more powerful and unique.

I'm leaning towards changing them. Even my Pa says to go ahead and do it...
