Audi RS4 will it challenge the M3 (hopefully)

At last audi have brought out an RS4 that will challenge the likekyhood of the new M3, and hopefully the csl that will be brought out later

Its been good having a car like the M3 but it just becomes dull in a way that there is nothing to challenge it, it has become a monopoly in its category.

looking at audis dtm car i cant see why they didn't bring this beast out earlier
i know many people would like the chance to own a car in the same category as the 3 series that can beat it

I think it's not right what you say! This is Audi's second RS4. The old one easily beat the old M3 and the new RS4 will also beat the new M3!! My uncle has had an RS4, tuned to 450 hp (380 standard) It was very fast!! Now he has an RS6, tuned to 520 hp (450 standard)!! :P It goes 320km/h and from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds :P

It was just a couple years ago, based on the previous generation of A4.

Technically it was an Avant.

The RS4 is based off the A6, I thought. Or was that the RS6? Or the RS4 before the RS6 and RS4?

The M3 will handle better, but the RS4 will go faster. That's my prediction anyway. A BMW is always better balanced than an Audi, because they can get the engine much farther back in the bay. Audi's Quattro system makes up for this in part, but never overcomes it totally. Still, they'll be close.

As far as the DTM car goes... Audi's DTM car probably has even less in common with the road cars than do BMW's or the other constructors, as Audi moved the enging back something like a foot compared to where it is placed in the road car; in pictures it looks like the driver is in the back seat. So... no respect transferred here from the DTM car to the road car.

all the dtm cars do that ya goose... as well as moving pretty much everything including the driver back as well... just the rules they are instructed to follow...

The first RS4 came out in 1999 IIRC, in Avant form only, with a 380bhp 2.7-litre V6. It was based on the current A4 of the time.

The RS6 was based on the previous generation A6.

The new RS4 is based on the facelifted new generation A4.

An original RS4, yesterday. -
