2008 Orion Falcon - First Pictures

2008 Orion Falcon?

These are likely the first shots of the long anticipated Orion Falcon. They were taken from a distance, so nobody can say for sure whether it is or isn't. However, I'm 99% sure this is a Falcon.

A couple of pieces of evidence point to it being a Falcon. Firstly, it was taken in the Victorian bushland (Ford's engineering base is in Victoria). Also, the size of the vehicle indicates Falcon.

The car has a slightly rising belt line, as does the VE Commodore. The front overhang also looks a little shorter, but I can't be sure without a better shot. Other than that, the proportions look similar to the current Falcon. It wouldn't be a current bodied mule, because they have made an effort to disguise it.

Overall, it doesn't tell us too much - but if these are in fact shots of Ford's 2008 Falcon in prototype form, then it is quite newsworthy.

Finally.. early days yet so we really can't say much, But it's good to see this is the start and the pics will get better..

Did anyone else notice in the first large pic the A pillar still looks AU??.. What are the chances that is a BA with Orion?? It's been done before.. My brother seen a AU with black front AU rear but a lumpy bonnet, It boosted up this is way back years ago.. After seeing the Au's that were hidden BA's he thinks it was a Turbo BA.

Full bodied Orion mules have definately been made, but with the wheelbase remaining the same, and the biggest dimension changes probably affecting the front and rear track, most of the development will be done in BA/F shells so this may not even be Orion. It looks to have a higher beltline than the current Falcon however, at least from memory.

I first thought it might be a BF bodied mule. But they have made the effort to disguise it. There is the possibility that they have an Orion front end on a BA. It doesn't look like a full BA as the front looks a little too low.

But yes the A pillar and what can be seen of the glasshouse look VERY AU/BA. I wouldn't be surprised if the body is BA.

Great find dyslexic version of cyco.. Top stuff. Hmm i like the way they have gone to hide it's body.. But early opinions of higher waste line just don't seem to be right now.
Reminds me of the First VE spy shot with pads and foam hiding it.. I'm still 50/50 on is it the real deal or a BA-BF base still??.

I'm 100% sure that it's NOT a BF - look at the crease line and the door handles.

Looks like the belt line is rising at an even higher rate than the VE

Nice find Syko.

They aren't too far apart.

I also made an attempt to remove the watermarks.

What got me thinking BF was the way the have coverd the pillars, So i had a look at my brothers car and they are similar but you just can't get that head down bum up look from BA-BF.

Looks like it's running on 17" rims also. I'm very surprised that they have gone to them door handles and that nose down bum up look that really has surprised me. Also is it just me or do the guards look slightly bumped out?.

I can see fights on this in the future in holden and ford forums.

Theres more pics on that website also did anyone see them??.

The door handles were inevitable. Really, Ford and Holden shouldve had them in 2002 but their design stages by then didnt have changes to the doors.

Wow, with that cladding on the rear quarter window, the side profile reminds me of a Holden Astra!

They look virtually the same, the VE wheel arch flares are more pronounced but the overall silhouette is very similar. Hopefully they have a dual exhuast on the the XR6/T and a quad exhuast on the XR8 similar to the VE, not sure about the side moulding on the XR variants also
