I think it looks like some failed korean 90s design. It has nothing of the bruteness of the previous models. A subaru impreza needs a huge wing and has to be a car to scare people. this looks like something a granny would buy.

.. looks like a saleen focus mated with a umm.. Kia Cee'd
if they come out with an STi sedan, i hope it looks better than this.. because as i said before, i think STi just lost in the EVO v. STi wars.. at least in the 'looks' department so far. Thing is - the looks are what sells cars for the most part, except when it comes to car enthusiasts, who buy based on performance.

It looks really nice until you notice its a hatchback, hopefully they'll get a clue and make a STI from the sedan as well.

I find the hatchback to be very clumsily styled.

The sedan is slightly better, but not much better.

Hardly looks like something your stereotypical granny would drive.

I was sure I hated it....
turns out i'm wrong!

Looks fantastic from most angles. Front 3/4 is a little iffy but in black it looks better.

Arkansas, Conway, not so bad, really.
It could be worse...

I'm actually relieved to see it turn out so well. It's new ground, but that's not bad in itself.

I'm more worried about what I've read about the new WRX. American magazines say it's gone soft, which means the Old World press has probably torn it a new exhaust port. I wouldn't know. My local newsstand has discontinued EVO, the bastards. I've got to get a subscription now...

They've kept the engine as-is in the WRX. I assume they've done the same with the STi. It's a damn fine engine, I can tell you from experience; among the best-sounding four-bangers out there and with a torque curve that looks like a Himalayan billiards table.

As it is with the new STi, I'm still pining for the fjords, but the parrot's a long way from dead. I'm interested to see how it fares in the WRC. The Subaru/Solberg legacy's prestige sold me on my Scooby, when I knew the EVO VIII was probably a better driver's car — that and the noise the STi engine makes.

well apparently it's easier to drive and a little faster than the new evo, so... it probably still comes down to looks/feel when choosing between the two.

I really would wish that the Subaru was better looking because I'm a Subaru fan. I have no idea why Subaru's been making such ugly ass cars lately. They knew the B9 Tribecca failed, which is why they came out with a facelift so early. Continuing with the airplane trend is just not gonna work. Mitsubishi and BMW have their roots in airplanes too. I don't see them styling their cars after airplanes. Lamborghini took a stab at airplanes for the first time with the Reventon and did fine. I have no idea why Subaru (with all that aircraft engineering and stuff behind them) can't style a car at all. Lamborghini used to do tractors and they still can do the airplane theme better than Subaru can.

Tribeca got a face lift I think not only because it didn't look all that great, but because it looks a lot like the Saab 9-6X (rebadged Tribeca) would've looked if it came out.

Got the new WRX in at work, an improvement over the standard but still looks shit.

Waiting for the STi, that'll be fun to work on.

I don't think the Saab 9-6X was ever built.

The Tribeca was just ugly.

Atleast the ugliness was kinda distinct.
The restyling makes it look more Forester-ish, but a bit bigger O_o

I quite the front of the STi, if they could merge that onto a Classic coupe body shell they might have something...

It's a shame they use those tail-lights, it just doesn't fit with the rest of the car, dark front lights and those whitened rears.

Other than that, I like it, it still looks very aggressive...
