As I previously mentioned the Cars purchased at the ex-Gov auctions are usually under new car warranty and therefore have been properly maintained and serviced, that does not mean that the car has had an easy life, but if serviced properly and not thrashed when still cold, they should be OK.

An ex Education Dept car would be a better buy than an ex Rental

Well the good thing is you are aloud to look at the vehicles before you purchase (not inspect sadly) but often abuse is visable so theres a clear hint to stay away from or on the flipside it can be a way to get the cheapest avialable vehicle as often they are fiarly priced based on condition and what its job was.

That is the best thing about government cars you can view the history, Hire cars are a little more slack with it they do miss some check-ups, And the cops also are the same, But government fleet usually don't miss a beat.

Not my brothers car, according to the log book it missed some of the more important check up's.. Which was similar to the Territory we hired missing 2 of the first 3 check ups.

Theres a group of holden cars that are financed and they are so cheap with their servicing they re use the rubber washer instead of replacing them in all holdens (both alloytech and ls2) its one of the tightest things ive ever heard of to save a buck!

Bugger them all, Buy a VP.. Up to Shepparton we ran 390km and don't know what's it's used but it's 1 line off 1/2 tank, And when it hits 1/2 line that's 41 litres.
Beat that in a new modern 6. Buy a VP.
