to be fair, it's not like toyota had any interesting or RWD cars since the 90's, and nissan's shining beacon was the 350Z...

No, they don't. But in racing they do. Which company of the Japanese big 3 have been most successful in racing altogether (motorcycles, F1, etc.)?

Yeah, I think they're the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer.

Well, seeing as they've done different types of racing, it's pretty hard to say.

Honda has the most stuff covered, as it's campaigned winners in F1, MotoGP, SuperGT, Baja, LeMans, Group A., and a bunch of other smaller series/races (Macau)

Toyota has had more success in WRC, as their Celica, Corolla, and Supra models have had varying degrees of success, but their road-racing efforts haven't been as successful. But they have had several podium finishes in F1 and LeMans.

Nissan has lots of road racing success with their GT-R, winning Bathurst, a 2nd at LeMans, Macau, and a shitload of domestic trophies. Back when they were Prince, their R380 was also pretty successful, but not GT-R-levels of domination. Don't count out the Z cars too - they've won everything from SCCA to LeMans (well, at least class wise).

But who could forget Mazda?

They're still the only make to win an overall 1st at LeMans.

So, the only answer is to draw your own conclusions.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing what these Jap companies can do.

Now if they would put some of that racing pedigree into their cars, I'd be a much happier person.

You need to drive more Honda production cars.

Now, that is some sports car! Light and nimble. Built like a precision watch. I have always wanted one!
This car does not need hundreds of cubes to really go. It is one that will squeeze every last ounce of power out of a spoonfull of gas too! That to me is performance.

Just a small correction Nissan was never Prince. They were two separate companies that merged in the mid 60's.

Some Mazda commercials say there are more Mazda's on the racetrack every weekend, than any other car manufacture...is this true??? Sure seems like it, ppl love those little Miata's to race, and the 7's & 8's are on the track allot too.

it's impossible, the numbers of Porsche present on the 'Ring every day is higher than the numbers of RX7 and RX8 ever produced ...just kidding, but I guess there are way more Porsche.

some years ago, Europe was plagued with tons of Citroen/Peugeot Cups with the Saxo and the 106. In the nearest circuit to my house, there is a Cup for the Kia Rio hatch, 6 races on the same track and 90 minutes of endurance each times, but it's quite funny I have to say
sorry for the crappy image

And I believe it applied only in the US not in Europe.

As Damiano said we have all sorts of interesting single make racing.

Here we have the Hyundai Getz cup...

didn't count it since it's 20 years old and the S2k is a more pertinent example

could be true, mx-5's are heaps popular, as well as all the RX-3's/4's/7's/Capella's etc, but they don't seem to be a majority...maybe a majority more than any other single marque?
