2008 Maxximus G-Force

Maxximus G-Force: a new fastest street-legal car contender

The ongoing battle for the title of 'world's fastest production car' has seen the SSC Ultimate Aero TT dethrone the Bugatti Veyron for outright top speed, but now a new contender has entered the ring. The Maxximus G-Force, brain-child of David B. McMahan, hasn't made a top-speed run yet, but its early results show it may just take the title.

So far, the car's makers have focused on setting records in acceleration and braking. Zero to 60mph takes 2.134 seconds, 0-100 flits by in 4.541 seconds and what many consider to be one of the ultimate marks of performance, the 0-100-0mph test takes just 8.861 seconds. All of these records were set late last year at Rockingham Raceway in North Carolina.

Those are seriously impressive figures, topping even the legendary Ultima GTR, the previous holder of a number of world records. If you think the Maxximus G-Force bears an uncanny resemblance to the notorious Ultima, that's because it does - it's based on the same chassis and body, but with unique engine and equipment. Its bubble-like canopy and bulging fender/headlight combos are characteristic of prototype race cars as well.

Performance of such extreme heights is secured by a super light weight construction and a twin-turbocharged 434cu in (7.0L) American V8 rated at over 1,600hp (1,194kW). A paddle-shifted sequential transmission adds another racecar-like touch, while the brakes that help enable the impressive 0-100-0mph record are 14in six-piston units all around.

Maxximus claims the car is the world's fastest street-legal car, and has a record from World Records Academy to attest to that fact. Regardless of whether it's actually the fastest, however, it's undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with.
I guess the most impressive data is the 0-100-0 time.
If this car managed to conserve at least this bit of the Ultima behavior and balance, it's going to be a rocket.
definitely overkill.

Fastest street legal car-world record set by G-Force

Rockingham Dragway, NC, USA -- The G-Force started as a vision of an American V-8 powered mid-engine super car and broke three world records for speed-setting the world record for the Fastest street legal car.
Photo: The G-Force car was to be the fastest American built Supercar with a 1600++Hp all aluminum American V-8, 434 cubic inch, twin turbo charged, fuel injected small block engine. (enlarge photo)

The interior of the vehicle was custom created by an aircraft interior specialist with the characteristics coming straight out of a fighter jet.

The car has an all aluminum paddle shift transmission with a quick change gear set.

The braking components to the vehicle are a 14 inch cross-drilled rotars with 6 piston calipers on all four corners to create a package that will achieve world record standards.

The sleek dash and interior roll into the comforts of a luxury car including: heating and air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with CD, navigation system with MP3 and DVD, all digital instrumentation and a push buttom start.

The world record driver was Marlon Kirby, owner of Maxximus Technologies, Master Tech was Mark Cloud, Machinist was Matt Thompson, Engine tuner and a "huge help Larry Strouth Sr. and Larry Strouth Jr. of HP Works and for moral support, my father, David Kirby." D. Bruce McMahan, the owner and financee of the G-Force car, was also the key part of making this come about.
Marlon Kirby, owner of Maxximus Technologies: "Obtaining the world record was having my dreams and visions fulfilled.
This task was a lifetime vision and three years of blood, sweat and tears. (enlarge photo)

My philosophy about being in second place is that that person is the first loser. This belief kept me pushing forward over multiple hurdles that were thrown my way. The support of my wife and family along with my drive to achieve the fastest Super-car on the Globe."

The Fastest street legal car-the G-Force:
-0 to 60 in 2.134 seconds with the old record being 2.6 seconds
-0 to 100 in 4.541 seconds with the old record being 5.3 seconds
- 0 to 100 to 0 in 8.861 seconds with the old record being 9.4 seconds
(enlarge photo)

Marlon Kirby, owner of Maxximus Technologies: "Thanks to all that helped throughout this exceptional adventure from the bottom of my heart."

Near the middle of the middle of middle England.
And here I was thinking that Ultimas were already stupidly fast; somebody should've told me they could have done with an extra 1000 bhp.
Shame about the disregard of Ultima's name though, but I guess that's what you have to expect from an over-zealous american with a bit of money. I also wonder how the NRE Ultima GTR would compare to this.

P.S. Was it using drag slicks for the acceleration runs, or on road legal stuff?

Well, to take your argument a bit further, did he use normal or race fuel? Is the car reliable enough, or will the engine have to be re-conditioned after the acceleration run?

This is a tuner car, not a manufacturer car. It's a modified Ultima, same way like a Brabus is a modified Merc.

Too much hype for nothing...

Agreed, I'm starting to get sick of the race for new fastest/quickest/ugliest/most expensive car. If normanl supercars weren't enough as it is.

Oh come on! The guy customizes jet aircrafts? I didn't know there were aircraft tuners....

I got these great 250 inch rims on my F16, but I have problems with ground clearance when I land..
