From the very beginning Buell as a company was out on the edge of motorcycling. All of their products were outside the metaphorical box of accepted orthodoxy. They hung on to a core belief that was just beyond the mainstream market.
Sometimes different is better but it doesn't always sell.

You might call something like mine more of a Power Cruiser, which has been a sort of trend in cruisers lately - everything from the rather piggish Honda VTX 1800 to Kawasaki Mean Streaks, Victory Hammers, even Harley V-Rods and the Mighty Max (VMax), if you consider it a power cruiser, are cruisers, yeah, but meant to shed a lot of that stodgy cruiser image. Successful? Some more than others...there's a lot of show boats out there (Victory Hammer, Kawi Mean Streak, VTX), as well as some genuine performers (V-Rod and V-Max).

As to comparing them to sportbikes, well, yeah, point taken, but sportbikes aren't for everyone, myself included. I guess it comes down to a matter of taste.

Yeah, I think the Rocket III falls in that category - brutal torque makes that bike! And I love torque. I'm too small to manage something that size though

Yea, I linked to it on the previous page. Any further rumours around it?
