Evo MR gaining weight

I recently looked through some car magazines where some reviews state the Evo MR's weight a mere 10 kilograms below the curb weight of the Evo VIII GSR

to my knowledge and according to the UK mitsubishi website

http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evo...sp?strCar1=QD4

the evo MR shed 80 kilograms or about 160 pounds

did the Evo MR suddenly gain an extra 70 kilos? or were some weight cutting measures not integrated into the full production model?

on a seperate note did anyone see the May 30th Topgear with the MR and WR1 duel?

the FQ320 Evolution MR posted a blistering 1:26.00 faster than the WR1's 1:29.40 by 3.4 seconds !!!

i think there are too many stupid sti spin offs around. ppp? wtf?!?! WR1?!?!? those are just pathetic... try the WRCar, the asterope (looks like a WRC car) or the "impreza by STI" (which has alll the rally stuff under the car with almost normal looks. but the ultimate subaru is STILL the 22B. no subaru gets close to it.

impreza by STi ? like the impreza STi ...

u do know the WR1 IS a tuned version of the WRX STi

i gotta agree with u though, during its time the 22b was the ultimate impreza, but compared to the cars of today its glimmer would be tarnished

hey!

there was some 6 year old 60 kilo kid. scary thought, i was twice this guys age, and the same weight... bad thoughts.... lol

the 22b still is amazing in all aspects, the newer subaru sti's ppp - WR1 etc are just shit.

the "impreza by STI" was a one off thing, it was a REAL SPECIAL of sorts.... silver with carbon fiber stock looking kit. WRC spec suspension etc and brakes etc etc etc, but normal looks.

re: weight

the added weight is due to additional drivetrain components, new center differential aswell as the new 6 speed tranny. There were many mods to lower weight, however they are countered by the addition of extra components. I was just checking out what was on the web about the MR, and I cam across this thread, thought I would throw the answer out there. please excuse the spelling errors.
Peace,
Hofmann

2 things this is a really old thread and second the 6 speed and the acd and ayc were standard on all lan evos outside the united states so they shouldnt have added any weight at all, my guess is the american version needed extra strengthening braces for teh crash regulations

also the weight of the mr on the uk mitsubishi site is 1.4 tonnes
