I would think if you add another rotor housing to the RX it should return some good times. Quote.(The K & N Filtered sponsored triple rotor RX7 driven by Abel Ibarra took the fourth spot with a7.245@ 190.40 mph) fast enough for most people.http://www.divisionone.org/photoa/2003/50403/NHRA2.html

you cant just 'add another housing'. You have to get a new eccentric shaft, then you can come up with the oil and cooling problems. It would be better to just dump in a complete 20B from a cosmo. With a 3rotor in the front of that, it would loose it's remarkable balance. Although are we talikng about the 1/4 mile or not??? we still dont really know. If so, it would be a great idea.

in a quarter mile run the Skyline would win easy i belive due to the fact of the 4WD system.
in a speedrun, i also belive the Skyline would win, cause of it's lightness, i belive the RX8 would start to go woubbly...

possible to have a 1350HP skyline?? yes, the Skyline u see in google search "Skyline 328" is a 1200 HP skyline by Top Secret (YES, that nutt Nagato). it has 3 Bosch fuelpumps, no N2O !!!! and YES, it's a INSANE fast Skyline, only faster one iwe seen is Veil Side's Speed trial in NZ 02 with some 340++ KM/h

top speed of a Skyline ??

hmmm, a bit more streamlined, i belive the Skyline, with 1200 HP could be a extremly fast viechle.
seems to be hard to break the 350 KM/h limit.......
seen Supra's with MR2 engines, and RB26DETT engines marginaly crossing the 320 KM/h limit.....

a MR2 chassie with a B20 and perhaps some 16BAR turbo....might do the trick

There is a firm in AUZ who build Triples out of twins by as you say making a new eccentric shaft. Also they added another housing making Four and won the 24HR Le mans race.Cosmo power cars have run 8sec quater miles on Top fuel.

The SKYLINE GT-R is coming to America!!!

I just got some great news. I'm doing more checking to see what I can find out, but Consumer Reports reported that Nissan is planning to bring the GT-R over to America. Its not likely to arrive until 2008, but hey, I never thought it would make it.

"Nissan recently confirmed that its high-performance Skyline GT-R will finally reach the U.S., and we think it could be badged as an Infiniti. The all-wheel-drive twin-turbo V6 coupe is a global performance icon and rally-racing star familiar to younger U.S. enthusiasts from popular video games. But don't hold your breath just yet. Word is that "our" GT-R won't arrive until early 2008."

I'm a true GTO (3000GT VR4) fan. My current one is aging and I've been looking for a replacement. The Evo MR and WRX STi have had my attention, but not my full attention, they just aren't GT class cars. In hearing this news I have decided to wait and save. I've always thought the skyline to be a formidible replacement for the gto, but only Motorex imported them (and at a good charge). Finally we will have a factory warrantied version. I'll post more when I find it.

BTW Skyline unmodified/modified anyday!

I'd say that unless the driver was incredibly skilled (to keep the car in control with that much power), the stock RX-8 could beat a 1000+hp Skyline (lets say stock except for the engine) without much difficulty at all. In this case, it's definitely a case of too much power. I guess it really depends how the Skyline is modified (particularly tires, suspension, and extreme weight loss). Most of the big Auto-X wins go to ~700kg Porsche 914s

err GTO the skyline has an inline 6, not V6, thats actually a HUGE difference

and i STILL cant understand why people just keep ranting on about how good the skyline is because of it's tuning potential for power ... the car has NOTHING to do with power potential, thats called an engine, and even then you'll need to modify every other part of the car for it to maximise that potential, so why not take a more rigid chassis, that's lighter and start from there, keeping with the japanese domestics, a lan evo, impreza (if u can get rid of the understeer), rx7, mr2, s15, or nsx can all be tuned easily to outperform a skyline, mainly because they're all smaller and lighter

now there are going to be alot of fanboys that start spouting crap about how the skyline totally owns in jgtc, there are 2 things wrong with that argument, first off those cars are modified to the point where the only thing they share in common with the car is the block and the overall shape, second in jgtc the cars are limited to 300 or 500 horsepower depending on which catagory they're in (so no power potential bullshit talk) and my last point ... which kind of goes with my first point is that these cars have no connection with the road versions, unlike group a, and group b cars, these race versions done need road homologation specials like the early lan evos

as far as anyone should be concerned the only advantage the skyline has over other cars in this area is the fact it displaces 2.6 litres, THATS IT (NSX has 3L V-TEC V6, do the math)

There's a lot more to it than displacement, and there's also a lot more easy (and top end) power to be had from the RB2DETT than from the NSX V6.

Other than this small detail, I must say, great post. Well said.

I just finished watching a video from japan on the top 3 tuner cars going against each other.
Re Amemiya fd rx7
MCR r34 skyline
and some wrx
i dont know much about mcr or the wrx
all i know is that the rx7 won the races

there were to lineups first race was the skyline, then the rx7, then the wrx at the starting line. at the finishing line the skyline was first with the rx7 right on its ass and the wrx was long gone in the back.
second race the rx7 started in front and pulled away to about a 50ft gap at the finish line.
keep in mind there was no room to pass at all

the rx7 is a totally different car its a track car not a quarter mile car as proven by this.
the skyline would pull away a bit in the straights but as soon as it got twisty the fd would drag it right back in, and in the last race take off from it.

these 3 cars where the tuner cars for these top companies. not crazy stupid amounts of hp, but a very quick, well balanced vehicle.

did fritz say that the skyline is more areodynamic?!?!

"it flew through the air like a golden brick dosent"

coz i mean, its a f**king brick of a front end, and comparitively to the RX-8 (which IMHO would win) is just no contest...

In my opinion the RX-8 would be able to win it is lighter, corners better and being a rotary has a much better power delievery as it has 2 power strokes every cycle. however the Rotary engine is known to be very unreliable if modified.
