Question 2000 Nissan Skyline GT-R Fully modded VS Mazda RX-8 Fully Modded

Me and my friends have been arguing this battle for some time now and I am convinced that the Nissan Skyline pushing around 1350 HP would beat the RX-8 (unknown HP, cause I dont care so i havent researched it). So who is right and who is wrong?

Both 1350hp i think the RX-8 would win as its at least 100kg lighter, but i think it would cost alot more to tune up an RX-8

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. RX-8's have no real tuning history let alone history for ever being fast. I think most knowledgeable JDM car enthusiasts would agree the Skyline has the most high HP tuning potential of any JDM superbeast. So tell your friend to shut up, and may as well just kick his ass too...the Skyline wins.

Isn't GT-R AWD? Just putting down 1350 hp, the Nissan would win.

"Win" at what?

A stock RX-8 could easily thrash a 1350hp R34 Skyline GT-R at most autocross courses...

in straight acceleration, the skyline would truly rape the RX-8, but it wouldn't have much on it at a track.

This is ridiculous, he doesn't even know the HP of the RX8 and doesn't care... Then how I'm I supposed to have an opinion?

Skyline with 1350HP where did you get that from??

Now come on Shawn.. If there really was a 1350HP Skyline GT-R there's no way a Stock RX8 could beat it on a track. Skylines perform pretty good on tracks also... and with 1350HP...

I can send you a small compilation vid that I made through msn if you'd like

By this I mean the HP of a modified RX8. If he's talking about a stock RX8 then it REALLY is a ridiculous comparo to begin with.

It's pretty much impossible for the RX-8 to have much of a tuning history though, it's only what - 2 or 3 years old? The RX-7 on the other hand does have a decent amount of tuning history; RX-8s will probably get in on the tuning scene much more once they start coming out of warranty. Although, they might never hit it big due to the competition posed by the RX-7 itself: the RX-7 was a more focused driver's car (2 seater, smaller and lighter I believe) so why would a serious tuner choose the RX-8 over the RX-7?

Bench racing is stupid. I could throw a hypothetical 1300hp Geo Metro into this comparison, and based on weight, expect it to destroy both the Skyline and RX8.

A 1350 hp Skyline is possible, it would just need everything modified. Its easy to get the GTR's from 300 to 500bhp with i few simple modifications, but alot harder to get it to 1350.

There is an R32 GTR Here in NZ driven by a dude named Glen Suckling pushing 1300hp with the help of a little N2O. It runs an 8.69 1/4 mile. It is the fastest street car in NZ.

I just can't see how the RX-8 can push out 1300+ hp semi-relyably. It would have to be perepheral ported with a heafty big turbo, massive compression and running on 200 octane fuel. But there are some rotary 13B's running 7's, so i dunno. It could be mached up.

My view is that the skyline would win. If they ended up having the same (all improtant) power to weight ratio, the stright six skyline engine would produce a fair bit more torque which would help it overcome the RX-8.

This is for the 1/4 mile, which i guess most people associate performance with. But there are alot more outcomes given different circumstances.

from the sounds of your posting im guessing that you have yet to attain your lisence yet but still hold a fascination with cars and "which one would win" scenarios. but honestly your best bet it sto go ply gran turismo or something ant set up your own comparison as benchraceing with hypothetical cars is just a waste of you time and ours. esp. when you dont give a scenario or peramiters for the "race". race can mean many differnt things. also coming to your conclusion and assuming the skyline would win without going and reasearching the competition is just a sign of your ignorance...

actually the supra's 2jz-gte motor is a better platform to start from if your looking for the most power out of an asian import motor, therefor the supra would be the best choice, that along with the supras rwd driveline and the less parasitic losses due to this and the skylines RB26DET head not getting proper cooling and failing at higher power levels...
