Good lookin' MotoGP ride! What kind of paints did you use for the brake discs?

Actually it's still a 500 cc class bike from 1999, before the MOTO GP regulations were introduced. It's a Tamiya 1/12 kit. I can't remember what I used on the brakes, probably Tamiya's acrylic paint or Humbrol enamels.

It's been a bad week at work

and the first time I ever posted a bike model of mine that was exactly the response I got as well. And it DOES make a big difference to the finished model !!

Keep in mind I havent built a model for years and could never master those type of flawless gloss finishes, the only let down for metallic painted models is the out of scale metallic flakes that are the fault of the paint manufacturer. In reality, for an accurate scale finish I wonder if the metallic flakes should be visible at all?

it might be the effect of the camera, in reality the flakes are not that prominent. It's not such difficult paint, it is readilty supplied in Tamiya rattle cans, and covering it with a gloss coat further improves the effect.

Dont mind me. I used to be in a plastic model club with a bunch of guys who were quite anal about finishes etc. It was one of (ONE OF!) the many discussion points. Plastic modellers can be quite tiresome. Quite skilled too though.

It is not a thing that should be taken too seriously
