Ferrari 250 GT Europa #4

Pics and info from NetCarShow.com

The Ferrari 250 GT Europa was introduced at the Paris Auto Salon in 1953 as the first Gran Turismo Ferrari ever made and the first of the well-known series of road going Ferrari cars holding the number 250. The Pinin Farina styled car featured a long, low hood and an oval radiator grill - a distinguishing characteristic of the 1950s Ferraris.

Despite of the GT character of the car it managed to provide exciting performance, as well as a sense of absolute luxury. The Aurelio Lampredi designed V12 found in the Ferrari 250 GT Europa produced over 200bhp making the car capable of a 0 to 60mph sprint in under 8 seconds and a top speed of 135 mph. Brilliant handling and an outstanding transmission made the car an exceptional Gran Turismo vehicle.

Only 36 Ferrari 250 GT Europa were ever build with most of them going to the United States.

This particular 1954 Ferrari 250 GT Europa was sold on an auction (RM Auctions) for £374,000 in October 2007.

Specifications:
  • 220bhp, 2,953 cc, 60 degree single overhead cam V-12
  • four-speed all synchromesh gearbox
  • independent front suspension with coil springs and A-arms
  • live rear axle with semi-elliptical springs
  • Houdaille shocks and hydraulic drum brakes on all four wheels
  • Wheelbase: 102in. (2,600mm)
