I've been asked if I know of a concept car that came out in teh 80s that had a flexible rear wing. Flexible like the Gina Concept is flexible.
They thought it was an Isuzu but I can't think of any Isuzu with a moving rear wing.
I can think of the HSR Mitsubishi concepts that had moving rear wings from the 80s. The HSR I and II had solid wings - the HSR IV had no wing, but I can't find any images of the HSR III showing if it had a wing or not.
Anyone have any images? Or can think of another concept that had a flexible wing?

The HSR III didn't have a wing.. still looking for decent images. Checked the hide-out?

EDIT:

Information on the HSR II, which had the movable wing.

"Two years later, the HSR-II appeared. Some say that the design of the vehicles were inspired by dolphins. The HSR-II focused on active aerodynamics, and had movable fins and spoilers to react with changes in speed and driving conditions. The result was a reduction in drag, that varied from .2 to .40 depending on the setup. The results of this design study were used in the production version of the GTO Sports Car."

Photo of it...

Thanks I have those images. I wasn't sure if the III had a wing or not. It's hard to say from those images.
Thanks for looking.

Scratch that.
I found it.
It is the HSR III
It has a rear wing that is more like a spoiler in appearance. It deforms a piece of material that is over it and looks like bodywork.
A friend sent me images and section drawings he found in Car styling magazine from 91. It also has doors that open like the McLaren F1 and is front engined with a retracting hard top.

I've searched for them but there don't seem to be any.

Certainly not in Bertone's site.
