Was the 2006 year a S65 AMG? This year they changed it to a 63? Strange... Anyway, I still like it. Looks better than any Maybach.

They have both!

S65 AMG: 12 cylinder

There's supposed to be something coming to replace the 65 series.

I was looking for a gated manual shifter, but I didn't find one.

Wow! Looks amazing! I want one! Wonder if Audi and BMW is going to release a RS8 and M7 to compete with it. But regardless of them doing that, i'd still take the Merc. Now my favourite 4-door!

Audi already have the S8, which is niche enough without an RS8 that I think would struggle to hit triple figures of sales each year.

BMW focus more on driver pleasure than hot rods in disguise- hence why there is no X5M, X3M, or M7. The M3 and M5 are natural choices, as are their coupés and convertibles.

I don't think the S class will ever have room for a manual in the dash. It looks full already. BTW, does the 7 series have a manual too or is it all automatic?

yes, at least in Italy the S65 is available only in LWB ("Lunga") version, don't know if in other countries it's different.
the S63 is available in both SWB and LWB versions
