it was really advanced for it's day unfortunately it's techonolgy scare off some of it's potential customer much like the citreon DS

The Detroit 3 were more afraid than the customers, Tucker built a company on hype and using investors money saying he had a car he actually didn't have. The big 3 brought him down with that fact because success of the Torpedo meant they'd have to spend millions to put things like Safety glass or seatbelts in their cars standard like Tucker did.
The citroen was a love/hate thing, some people actually didn't like it for some reason.
