Was this model fully intended for racing ? It seems kind of unfinished and not-refined to go out onto the street legally !
Great looker though ! |

a 1300 version, as shown on the European Concours d'elegance in Schwetzingen in 2003. An d yes, the car was purely designed for racing, and also came with a 2 litre engine.

Just for the record, the blue one above is a 2-litre. Apparently it was capable of speeds up to 270km/h...

yes the two litre is a DOHC (as you can see the 1300 is just an OHV engine), here is another one

I believe that Abarth used similar bodies for different creations, altough I could be wrong.

The Blue Simca Abarth posted by Ferrer is without doubt a 2litre from origin. All short nose versions with the " scoop" under the nose were 2litre cars. (as far as you can say this for sure when Abarth is concerned)
The one at the Swetzingen concours is probably retro-fitted with a Simca rally engine. Judging from the roundtail it is a 1300 from origin. 1300 Simca's also came as Twin-cams. Apart from the 1300 and 2000 , there also was an 1600. Gearboxes ranged from 4 speed, 5 speed to 6speed. Like Henk pointed out, the Monomille-Bialbero looked similar to the Simca Abarths but was actually very different. The one at Pebble Beach is probably a 1000 Bialbero, judging by the air-intake, covered headlights and Campy wheels, or it could also be one of a few Monomilles built with a Bialbero body.
