Tatra MTX V8

A mid-engined RWD supercar was developed by Tatra in 1993. Using a bespoke 3.9 litre V8, the 1,350kg car had a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds and top speed of 153mph. The 4 speed manual pushed out only 220bhp at 6500rpm.
Apparently only 4 - or less - were made.

Not surprised by the low number made, very underachieving numbers, even for the time, Jag has the XJ220 on its way, the F40 was out and then this was trying to break in with 153 mph and 220 hp?!

And the paintjob in the second pic is downright appalling.

Yeah, the numbers don't look supercar like. No wonder it failed. However, when you think about it, the NSX came out around that time and it wasn't all about the numbers either, but then again its chassis might not have been as developed as the NSX.

Well, the difference in budget and promotion might have something to do with it. And anyway the NSX wasn't a best seller either, AFAIK.

Yeah, it wasn't much of a seller, but time and effort on the engineering side was definitely spent on the NSX. I doubt (based on an assumption that this brand that probably doesn't exist anymore ) that the engineers did not spent much time on it, much less the marketing.

they build cars and trucks since 1897/1898, but producer of this car was the company MTX http://www.mtx.cz/

man you're talking about the greatest motorsport manufacturers with decades of experience and comparing it to a centra european's factory specializing in trucks and some low-volume limos

i think as for czech republic it's a great achievement, eg. poland have never achieved a car like that. i'm very disappointed it didn't make it to series production

And some of the quirkiest cars ever made. Citroens are normal by comparison.

Is this V8 based on the classic air-cooled Tatra V8?
