Well, it really looks as an inverted V12 Daimler Benz DB-600 engine, complete with the supercharger, used in earlier Bf-109 and Bf-110 german WW2 fighters.

iirc it was never driven (v-max est.)

worth mentioning - it has 6-wheels and currently is on exhibition in stuttgart's museum
