Not all of them had those tail lights. Some of the later cars had rears very similar to the California. The ones that were, were delivered in late 1958, maybe even early 1959*and I know for a fact are later than s/n 0813. The ones with the California style rears also had full bumpers and not bumperettes. What's interesting about the 250 Cabrios Series I is that while you can find two that are alike, I don't think any three are alike. I love Ferrari's definition of "series production."

At the Quail I was watching Marcel Massini, who duly noted down all the S1 chassis number as well as the shape of headlights and the bumpers....(it greatly helped me identifying the cars when he allowed me to take a shot of his list...)

I thought I would elaborate. Interesting the 400 SA Cabrios shared the same doors and windscreen as the 250 Cabrios Series I. Other than that they shared not parts the any other Ferrari.

What's also nice about those cars is most of them have had very few owners and have had virtually no modifications or work done.

Some Series II Cabriolets were modyfied by Tom Maede in the 60th, to look similar to the S I Cabriolets.
The first Post in the California Spider Thread, seems to be a Maede Car.

Nope, it's a body by Meade which looks very similar.
