It is a piece of great engineering but even with its stealth technology I think some were still shot down right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

some were shot down by AA cannon fire i think, idk anything about the others apart from a news item a few years back saying the serbians were the first to shoot one down with a missile iirc

One even managed it by itself, shearing a wing off during a gentle air show.
Like the SR-71, it was possibly rushed a little too early into service to have all the gremlins worked out but definately proved the stealth concept.
