It's okay.

I never liked Ford, or any American cars for that matter.

The sports cars are different though. Pretty much everything but the sports cars suck- the main reason why they're in such big trouble today.

i do find that the The Big 3 worship their sports cars way too much, such as the Corvette, Challenger, Mustang, Charger, GT(40), Viper, and so on and so forth. they give it too much hype by saying that it will beat this car or that car. or maybe all car companies worship their sports cars too much, i donno.

Well they are their halo cars, the cars that drag people into showrooms and while they might not be hot sellers they help selling other more mundane cars in the lineup. So it's normal that car manufacturers care about them.

they also lead the way with technology that will filter down into lesser models in coming years. like the MR shocks we were talking about the other day, traction control, Xenon headlights, and even ABS and airbags. They all started in Halo models, then worked their way down the foodchain.

and its not just the big 3. its all manufacturers. every company wants to have that car for people to aspire to. adds value to the cheap cars.

It's odd though- Toyota doesn't have any halo cars. Nor does Honda anymore- the S2000 is dead.

and how do we feel about toyota? they have had a different approach, instead they have focused their research at the bottom end, with the hybrid systems and the developments from the iQ. they have had their halo cars. the 2000GT, Supra, and the upcoming L-FA. so they aren't excluded from the generalization. Honda has had a lot of them, most notably the NSX. i woudlnt call the S2K a halo car, it hasn't really moved the game on at all, just re-employed existing tech. but i think if you give it a few years, they will come out with another.

For Honda, anything with Type-R badges could be considered halo.

Concerning Toyota, to find the halo car you have to think outside the box. It's the Prius.

Probably their new halo cars are the Prius and the Insight, even among enthusiasts. Perhaps it works less with Honda, but Prius is the first word that comes to mind after Toyota, even if talking about JGTC.

EDIT: Albert was in before me.

The LF-A isn't really out yet, and the S2000 was the most exciting thing Honda had for a while.

Their halo cars are all gone though, which is what really sucks.

I hate to say it, but Ferrer and Leon are right, the Prius and the Insight are now their halo cars.

Unfortunately, you're right. And I really hate that. Can they be more boring?

Accessorized Corvette Grand Sport with Heritage Package

Earlier this year, Chevrolet announced the return of the Corvette Grand Sport model. It’s a track-oriented Corvette with wider wheels and tires, special suspension tuning and unique exterior details. The Corvette Grand Sport achieves a 0-60 time of less than four seconds, pulls 1.0 g on the skid pad and still boasts an EPA-rated highway fuel economy 26 mpg.

The version displayed at SEMA introduces a host of Grand Sport accessories that will be offered in 2010. It is a standard Grand Sport convertible equipped with the Heritage Package, but in a new Cyber Grey exterior color, with forthcoming accessories that include:

Mesh inserts for the front fender vents
ZR1-style front splitter and rear spoiler (painted satin black)
ZR1-style rocker extensions and wheel spats (painted satin black)
Body-color door handles and license plate frame
Tinted dark chrome fender badges
“Tech” pattern engine cover with red lettering inserts
Grand Sport-logo hood blanket
Grand Sport-logo floor mats and leather console cover
Red stitched shifter knob/boot and red parking brake boot
“Tech” pattern interior trim kit
PAL iPod connector
Convertible wind screen
Racing-style pedal covers
Interior storage pouches
The Grand Sport accessories are expected to go on sale in early 2010.

They’re available through any Chevrolet or other authorized GM dealer.
