that song is "supposed" to be innuendo, but its about as thinly veiled as the band named whitesnake, i mean come on, white, snake...

Although I have to give props to the guy, who is a guitar god, his stuff really isn't that original. Chicago (the band) was originally formed by Walter Parazaider in the early '60's and recruited Terry Kath as guitarist. 'The Big Thing' (as 'Chicago' was then called) toured bars and clubs in Chicago, LA and New York. Early on in his big time career, Terry kath and Jimi Hendrix had befriended another, but you have to understand that a lot of Hendrix's stuff was inspired by Kath. Not only that, but in order to gain a scope on the incredible godliness of Kath, go listen to 'Liberation' and 'Free Form Guitar'-both songs on the 'Chicago Transit Authority.' I think you'll think differently then. ![]() Anyway, here's my list of great bands ![]() 1-Supertramp-They made very soulful, true tunes, often reverting to a dark Pink Floydish melodies, but over their career there music stayed rather true to themselves. 2-Pink Floyd-Dark, gritty, and brilliant. Roger Waters, although an asshole, is a genius. Go listen to 'Animals' and you'll know what I mean. HOWEVER A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is terrible, which brings Pink Floyd down to two. 3-Chicago-ONLY THE FIRST 10 YEARS. In 1979, Terry Kath died, the band switched labels, members left, and the band went to hell producing such terrible, hair pulling songs such as 'You're the Inspiration,' 'Hard to Say Sorry' and 'What Kind of Man Would I Be?' In those days Chicago was just turned into another '80's power ballad group. Very sad and dissapointing. If the band jsut stopped in 1979 after 'Hot Streets,' this band easily could have claimed number 1. Their early music is very soulful, energetic, and complex, meaning they are difficult songs to play, along with good meloies and great vocals. 4-(Tie)Led Zeppelin-Wow. The musical quality that came out of Led Zeppelin in their years on earth were simply astonishing. They were so incredible that their band depended on every single player in the group, Robert Plant, John Bonham, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. Without any one of them, the band would have been terrible. Which is why LZ split up after Bonham's death. 4-(Tie)The Who-Exactly the same as above, but superimpose the names Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon, Pete Townshend and John Entwistle above the names and you've got basically the same thing, exept The Who continued on after Moon's death. 6-The Beatles-I mean, they were just having a good time. And they made great music while at it. But with the hundreds of truly unbelievebly great songs they produced also came hundreds of terrible songs, like 'Honey Pie' or 'Within You Without You.' 7-Queen-Another truly incredible talented band having a good time. But after their great rock hits from the 70's the band slipped into a state of Power Ballad like Chicago did, but not as severe. 8-The Doobie Brothers-They had two stages. Their eaerly days were rock and roll, their later (with Michael McDonald) was jazzy. I love both equally. Their early rock was compareable with any other classic rock band of the time, but their jazzy days were also great. McDonald kept the songs fresh enough so they wouldn't sound cheap. 9-The Rolling Stones-Same as The Beatles, but their style was more consistent. 10-Elton John-I know loads of people who hate his music just because he's gay. Well, if you would just spend a little bit of time listening to 'Madman Across the Water' or 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' you should be able to get anyone to change their opinion. Although he too, slipped into a coma of crappy music later. But just listen to 'Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding' and I guarentee you'll be a fan. ![]() Other notes Greatest Guitarist-Tery Kath (of Chicago) Greatest Drummer-John Bonham (of Led Zeppelin/Keith Moon (of The Who). It was so close, they are both so incredible at their jobs! (PS-Jim Hensen designed the Muppet 'Animal' to be a charicature of Keith Moon) Greatest Bass-Geoarge Harrison (The Beatles) Greatest Keyboards-Rick Davies (of Supertramp) Greatest Buzzsaw Guitar Player-David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd). A close second to Pete Townshend of The Who. Greatest Vocals-Terry Kath (of Chicago). Hearing him yell out 'Oh, my beautiful' near the end of the 15 minute masterpiece 'Liberation' is really a moving performance. His voice also perfectly suited 'An Hour in the Shower.' Greatest Harmony-Crosby Stills & Nash. Undisputable. Greatest 'British Invasion' era band, save the Beatles-The Kinks. Best Song of All Time-Asylum, by Supertramp. The ending of 'Side One' on 'Crime Of the Century,' the ending part in the story about Jimmy Cream (NOT innuendo) and how he goes insane, claiming he's not, as anybody would, but obvious to us. It really makes you think. (Close second to the Beatles' 'You Never Give Me Your Money) Grestest 80's band-U2 All I can think of right now. ![]() BTW-My list means everything because I'm a musician too. ![]()

the best bassist i think is gotta be the guy from "KoRn"
He taps the strings and it really makes a nice sound, almost sounds like someones drumming, and you can actually tell that hes playing unlike other bands where u barely here the bass ![]() if you haven't heard him play, go download a "korn" song and you might think hes one of the best too ![]() |
