Hi Porsche and BMW lovers.
I have created this thread cause I have constated that in this forum there are to many BMW haters. I love this brand, I thing it's the BEST in this world. If you don't agree with me I don't care but let me just explain my opinion about that. Porsche is like a second BMW... When you are a happy BMW owner, you must have a Porsche as second car hidden in your garage. These two brands are complementary.
The Chris Bangle's style is very very controversial. But this man is making a great job. I love the new 7-series, the 5 and the 6. BMW for life and Porsche for fun. That's my slogan. With the 996, Porsche has made a great job. The 911 Turbo is the best Porsche. Ok ok there is the GT2. But the Turbo has 4 seats and 420hp a topspeed of 306km/h. 0-100 4.5 sec. the GT2 doesn't have 4 seats just 2 but it's very fast 320km/h, That's a bomb.
Mercedes is just like a BMW wanna-be... ha ha ha I know that my reputation will be down for this thread but that's my point of view... Peace

I've added a poll to this thread, because I'm curious as to how many people do actually like the new direction BMW designs have gone at the hands of Chris Bangle. I also made the votes public so there are no "closet" voters, speak up and tell us where you stand, option 2 is the "play it safe option"

Personally I hate the new looks the 7,6 and 5 series all look unnecessarily heavy and awkward. To quote myself from another thread,
"If I was to pick a single fault with these designs ... its gotta be the thickness of the rear flanks .... is it possible that Chris Bangle is obsessed with Jennifer Lopez?

To state Mercedes-Benz is a BMW wannabe , is akin to saying Ferrari is a Porsche wannabe .... Mercedes-Benz and BMW are both great marques, I don't think it would be right to suggest that one is second to or inferior to the other.

Sorry I know that I'm a BMW fan but when I read that I just can say that you don't know the history of these brands. Ok Ok Mercedes is at the same level than BMW I admit that cause it true. But you can't say that BMW is closer to Audi and Mercedes is closer to Jaguar.

Jaguar was a great brand before but in the 80's and 90's they have lost all their reputation. Their cars are not solid and reliable. I have owned a Jaguar XK8 and I know what I'm talking about. Audi is a little brand who is growing. Now they can compete with the Greatest like BMW and Mercedes but everybody know that Mercedes and BMW are the biggest rivals in this world. Maybach has been made cause BMW has bought Rolls Royce and everybody know that. It was wrong to say Mercedes is wanna-be BMW that's ok.
But you can't compare Benz with Jaguar. Ok Jaguar is very respected but Jaguar has lost all his notoriety. Audi is great, but you can compare audi with VW. Sorry but that's a fact. Take a look at the Phaeton and the A8. Specialists compare A8 with S-Class and 7-series but they know that Audi A8 can't have the same respect than his rivals.

When NoOne said that Ferrari is a wannabe Porsche. I can say OK. But if you look closer, Ferrari just has the name. Their cars are not reliable, you cannot use a Ferrari everyday. Your Ferrari cannot cruise at 260km/h for 3 hours, your Ferrari cannot be use when it's rainning and when the snow is falling. That's a fact. Your Ferrari consumes 25l/100km the fastest Porsche consumes 19l/100km and the others can reach 9l/100km my Carrera can do that.
Porsche can be use when it's rainning, when it's snowing, in the mud, in the ice where you want. You can use your Porsche where you want. Porsche can't be a Ferrari wannabe...that's a fact.
I retire my words when I have said that Benz was a wannabe BMW. But I can say that Audi is a wannabe Benz and BMW and I maintain my opinion. Look after the history of this brand and you will agree my opinion.

I respect your opinion and believe that your entitled to it, but how is Mercedes-Benz a BMW wanna-be?
Mercedes-Benz is the more recognized brand throughout the world, Mercedes-Benz sells more cars and has more appeal.
The outer brands that now extend out of Mercedes-Benz and BMW, such as Maybach and Rolls-Royce compete with each other. Don't know about you, but I believe that the Maybach 57 is way better than the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Porsche cars, like the 996 Turbo can out perform the 360 and cost much less. The 996 is probably much more reliable as well, but given the choice most people would still take the Ferrari because of the name and mass appeal.

Ok I just want to talk about BMW and Mercedes. You said that Mercedes sells more than BMW. You know why?? take a look at the history. And BMW is independant so they don't have more money than Mercedes. You know who owns Daimler-Benz??? It' the DEUTSCHE BANK. this is the biggest Bank in Europa and the second in the world. Now you understand why Mercedes can't fall down, but BMW can. I love BMW cause they are independant like Porsche and they must fight more harder than Mercedes cause they know that in this world "YOU EAT or they will eat you" and BMW is growing. That's why I love BMW. I love BMW cause in this world to many people dislike this brand, they all love Mercedes. And I don't like doing like other. You must think different and that's what BMW is doing. Chris Bangle is doing the same thing. When BMW will be loved by the wide world I will certainly say that they have lost their spirit. I don't like Ferrari cause everybody love Ferrari, and Ferrai is not independant. FIAT owns Ferrari or Porsche is independant. Personaly I love all independant brands, that why I love Lotus.

when the first time i got related to a BMW was....a M3 was passing and i m like ohhhhhhhhhhMG what a car and then my friend is like no that car sucks that s a BMW...and i m like WTF .....i like all the new BMW design 2 and i think he is even doing better and better ......I think he only didn t do such a gr8 job in the 5 and every thing else is perfecttttttttt............
