I was told the reason was Japanese houses dont' typically have central heating and in winter the toilets are very cold places. Near/below zero. So a heated seat was a "benefit" ... then the technology geeks and nerds got underway thinking what they coudl do given they had electrical power at the toilet
Boob man

Bit like mine, we have the wall mounted heating only, and i close all the doors. Bathroom-toilet close by they get cold. Nothing worse then walking into the bathroom at 5am and the frosty bejewelled.

I think it's a great idea and would love one, just not with heated seat.

Matra's link that i was looking at showed a toilet for the US, that's why i was having a laugh. A few blokes sometime ago were going off some Holdens that were sent over didn't come with heated seats.

- 2 is pretty cold. Once i stayed at bathurst on the hill one night, it had to have got down to atleast - 4 and all i had was a tent 5 layers of clothes sleeping bag and blanket. Half thought about getting in the 4wd and running the heater.
Lazy boy poo seat hmmmm, i like that. Like the idea of the massager's, i sit in there way to long. And sometimes my legs die also. Not that i go that long, i just take a pad and pen in and write away and forget the time.

Another year of subscription. Figured that if I can spend £710 on a new PC and Netbook that an extra £21 wouldn't hurt, and especially since it's going to a worthy cause...

apparently wherever they want, i saw one take off from the ground the other night. thought this normal, subsequently told that bats aren't supposed to be able to take off from the ground..hence why they hang upside down to sleep...

Depends on the bat, I think. Vampire bats take off from the ground cause they usually feed on something sleeping on the ground. Or maybe your bat was just smarter than the average bat.
