Castro's reign ending

Fidel Castro, now 80, has said he will turn his leadership over to his 75 year old brother. Rumors are asking if this will lead to a new Cuba.

Err, RTFA?

The first sentance:
"Cuban President Fidel Castro, 80, has handed over his powers to his younger brother provisionally due to his surgery."

Given the state of his health there is a chance that he may decide not to return after his treatment, and it it quite likely that, even if he did return, he would only be around for a few years more before stepping down.

To say that he his reign is at an end is incorrect and misleading.

He will be 80 in two weeks.

Yes, IF....
His reign has ended. Not officially, but it's ended. IT even says he may only be around for a few years. Either way, it's ending. Cubans in Florida are already planning to return.

Another report says the people think he could already be dead.

Good, that would solve the republican majority problem there...no more trouble during the next elections.

There are no reports that he's dead. It said provisionally handed over to his brother. When he gets home from the hospital it'll probably start up again.

I didn't say there were. There are people speculating he could well already be dead. The 2nd article states why no report may be shown.
"When a man has been in power for so long, they don't tell people at first. I am afraid that when people begin to realize that he is dead, the real fight for power will begin."

I'm sure his brother would rather keep his power if and well after Fidel's death.

Ok, but he never said that he'll turn over his power to his brother forever.

And it never said he wouldn't.

The point is that his time as ruler of Cuba is near its end.

True, but with the way Castro is, I don't think he'll ever give up power until he dies.

He's almost into his 80's and I don't see him going past 100, so yeah, his reign is almost over.

Doesn't justify anything to me though.
