Mac users, I need your opinion

I've looked at the Mac Pro a bit, and I like what it offers.

I'm not hugely into PC gaming anymore (due to PC gaming slowly dying...), so most of my gaming needs can be fulfilled with consoles...and Macs can play World of Warcraft and hopefully Starcraft II, so I'll be good there.

I'm not all too sure why the Mac Pro is an attractive option. Maybe because it's something different. I've always like OS X, that may be why. There's quite a bit of power in them too (dual quad core ). I'm probably going to be doing lots of 3D rendering apps, Photoshop, and music mixing, all of which you can do with Macs.

So, Mac users, how and why do you like your Mac?

edit: Keep the Windows vs Mac hate out please. Thank you.

They are pretty and expensive. The cult acceptance is a great benefit as well.

I'll start by saying I'm by no means a Mac fanboy/trendwhore. I do love my Mac though, as I find it more user-friendly and stable than Windows. The interface is great, and it runs much faster than its stats suggest on paper. The icing on the cake is that many more games are being released for Mac, and with the Intel processors you can easily dual boot with OS X and Windows anyway.

So there you go. Get a Mac, enjoy the cleaner and more stable OS, and still use Windows natively if you so desire.

Apple - Mac OS X Leopard - Features - Boot Camp In case you haven't heard of the Windows booting program.

I like the interface of OS X. I like Vista too. Both are nice, clean and easy to use, but OS X seems a little more snappier.

Call of Duty 4 is coming to Mac soon, so that's a nice addon.

Just about every application I use or plan to use is available on Mac, so there really isn't a reason not to. It'd be nice to try something different, you know?

I also love building PCs, but that's starting to wear off on me. I can still do any upgrade though. I was thinking of grabbing a bare bones-ish Mac Pro and add more RAM, another hard drive or two, etc.

If I don't get a Mac Pro, I'll probably get a MacBook Pro...

Yeah you won't regret it. OS X isn't nearly as much of a memory hog as Vista either. And, again you can have Vista on your Mac anyway, so you get it all.

I do recommend getting a different mouse though. I really find the Apple mouse uncomfortable and irritating to use. Check out Microsoft's laser mouse. They're way better than any optical, as the laser is incredibly precise (good for FPSs)

I could also use VMWare for a virtual Windows machine and Wine (OS X is Unix based, so it should work) for Windows games...

Mouse wise, I'd probably pick up a Logitech MX revolution...

I haven't really looked in VMWare and that much, but as far as I know it'd run much slower than having Windows natively boot on the Mac as it's running as a program.

And for the mouse, yeah Logitech's are good, the key is the laser tracking. It's so much better.

Hell yeah. Tomato torrent is decent for a basic, low-memory client. I use the latest Azureus personally though. I find it's the best for features and speed.

Yeah, I looked at some reviews and they all found Azureus the best for Mac

I have a macbook with both Windows XP Pro and OS X 10.4 (Tiger). I really only use Windows when I have to open the new microsoft office files (.docx) or when I want/have to work with SolidWorks, mostly because XP is significantly slower and makes my battery last 3 hours instead of 5. The dual operating system setup works great except it takes a couple minutes to switch from one operating system to another.

The cons of macs include: expensive accessories, having pc owners automatically assume you don't know how to use a computer, form sometimes wins over function (as in my macbook, the cooling vent is right where the display hinge is so the computer can get really hot if I'm not careful), white computers get dirty easily, glossy computers show scratches easily, and some software requires Windows or another operating system to be installed (SolidWorks, ProE, and Adobe Acrobat 3D are the ones I've run into)

I've had macs for years and never had any problems with them. Recently I purchased an HP laptop because it was half the price of a mac. Macs tend to not try to do so much for you, compared to windows which has a lot of "auto" stuff that just ends screwing stuff up.
So now I'm saving for a mac notebook.

I love my mac
Its fast and it doesn't seem to slow down
It doesnt get virus' and it doesnt get spyware or adaware
I love the ease of using everything
Only downside is that Mac's use up a lot of hard drive memory

Here's a good car analogy: Macs are like BMWs and Audis, PCs are like Buicks and Chevys; maybe the best of them are like a Caddy. I like to think of my MacBook Pro as my 6 Series that fits on my lap.
