This is untrue, A cyclone/hurricane generally starts within 5-15 degrees of the equator, this is because it is where the sea is the warmest. Now that this global warming thing is here, the sea is starting to warm up and the then area for cyclones to start gets bigger. Therefore giving the hurricane more time to build up before it leaves its "comfort" zone and heads for some major city... and the more time it has to build up, the bigger and more powerful the winds get etc, and the longer it lasts before it dwindles out to storm clouds.

Global Warming is a fact, use common sense. Trees, which get rid of toxins in the air, are cut down, people take the place of those tree, people who create those toxins, thus you are creating global warming while destroying the very thing that prevents it, or at least slows it down. Put a lid on boiling water, what happens???...

We just had massive wind storms here, A lady was killed by a falling wall.. It was out of the normal winds this strong across the state pretty much.

I was hit walking in the head by god know what, Even driving i was struck by flying objects with the window only slightly down.
There was large damage in my area that i seen very close by, It was very nerve racking..
But it was a week of many things, Heat (way above average for the month) Rain (Flood like) High speed winds (120kp/h plus).

Slowly, but generally yes. Over the past few years there have been more Hurricanes at a higher intensity than a number of years. Theres been many studies on this.

Edit: Page about global warming affecting hurricanes:

Are Hurricanes Becoming Stronger and More Frequent?

How on earth do they dare to claim this ? Global warming/greenhouse effect has not even been conclusively proven. They assume it is and that it causes more hurricanes, yet come with no real evidence for it. Big pile of biased writing and false information IMO.

Picture one shows that in the past century, no significant increase in hurricanes have been recorded, in-fact, the total number has decreased.

Next your going to say all glaciers are melting, and that Antartica is loosing its ice mass, and that the extinction rate of all animals is going up, and that the Sahara desert is expanding, that our sea levels are dramatically rising (faster than it has been for the last 6,000 years), global crop failures, El-Nino events, and that computer models are proving all of this. Well simply, computer models cannot prove anything. A prediction can never be proof. Any topic and data can be caused by a thousand different reasons. How can we even claim to "know" nature.

i think its ironic that they power these supercomputers (loads of kw) to calculate how we are damaging envirenment. Just like that guy that jetted round the world to document global warming effects or Decaprio with 3 priuses.

My main fear about making statements about my action regarding saving the envirenment is being a hipocrit (what I see in british politics and "green taxes" - no incentives). I will do my best and focus on attitudes not actions which are a bad starting point.

Some might say things are less frequently.. But on the scale they come they do more damage then ever.

Global warming some say can't be proven, Some say cant be disproved.

Global warming and the Ice caps melting could be two completely separate phenomena that people are linking out of convenience and political gain.

However that doesn't mean we shouldn't be doing something about it.

Well, seeing that Polar Bears are drowing, not to mention starving because the tempature of the water is increasing, due to global warming, and the Salmon arent running, the ice shelf is receding requiring those who live in the far north to travel farther and farther each time to hunt and what not, Floridas in a drought, Englands under water, the largest rivers in India are drying up, i could go on for days...

We can go on and quote various scientific journals and research but the point is even scientists are not certain. Yes atmospheric carbon dioxide is increasing which is likely due to human activity. We are also in a warming trend and have been for the last 150 years or so. So can you tell me how much of the global warming is "man made" considering our climate is constantly warming and cooling (Currently our climate is cooler than it was at a period inbetween ice ages, three ice ages ago). It is highley likely that temperatures will increase in the next 100 years following the increasing of CO2. Assuming that the theory of global warming stands up, how do you say we go about preserving what we consider wilderness?
