Im with you guys on that.

Money is the root of all evil. Global warming research is one great way to get money and "research"

I 100% believe global warming is real. However, most of the things I've read state that cars are a small contributor to it.

However I have a modest proposal:
Make cars lighter. They will be cleaner and more fun to drive.

It's pretty well established by mainstream scientists not being pushed by some right-wing pro-business agenda that humans are responsible for a large degree of the warming we are seeing.

They may be wrong, but they probably aren't - and the costs are too high for us to do nothing.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but nearly every scientists is seriously concerned about their funding. and if the Scientific norm, whether it's backed up by science or not, says one thing, they're not going to rock the boat.

While I agree doing nothing is no longer an option, by placing most of the effects of man's hand on the world under the "global warming" umbrella cheapens the issue and the actual problem.

I'll reduce energy use at home, but I refuse to give up sportscars and such for slow hybrids.

a tesla roadster is better than many sports cars out there.still pretty expensive though.

As for the rest of you, I am shoked at some of the comments made in this thread. With so much willpower going around no wonder nothing gets done.

EDIT: Oh and those of you who say its not harming anyone, pick up a book and read, not just look at the pwetty pictures. you have to be blind/ignorant/stupid to actually think global warming is just a conpiracy backed by the worlds scientists.

Not hit the poll buttons as it's making assumptions.

YES, I belive we are affecting our environment and that if we wish to try to limit our impact then we should do what we can.

BUT, cars are a minor producer of CO2 - even taking all the cars into account - so as an engineer it SHOULD be tackling the worst polluter first .... NOT the easiest

AS already stated, most of the BS going aroudn now is political rather than factual. THe ICPCC has been discredited sadly and now it's the battle of the statistics wioth "cheating" on both sides.+

homo sapiens.....

who is so capable of stating that HIS pollution is only a minor contribution, but that of his "neighbour" is the real root of all evil....

Sure, it'd be nice to do what we can to slow down the process...but as mentioned, there was/is a reason that there were many ice ages, instead of just one long one. I don't believe it is something we can stop....it would be nice if we could buy ourselves some time to adapt though!

I sugguest, that with all the farting cows, crapping chickens, and decaying other stuff, the only way I can see humanity REALLY cutting back on CO2 emissions would be to eject the half of humanity of below-average intelligence, all the cows and chickens we do not actually need for meat/eggs/milk into outer space (so as to avoid the C02 from decay joining the atmosphere) and see how things work out

Satanic conspiracy theories? What on earth are you talking about....

I wasn't falling into the political trap -- it's country A or B , because it's not that simple ..... but the TECHNOLOGIES.
Coal power stations with inadequate scrubbers and cleaners.
BS like the Prius ... grabs the headlines as "green" but is not by a long way really pisses me off

Interesting comments, but make no mistake. Climate change, like evolution, IS NOT just a theory.

The only thing that worries me is the future suply of crude oil falling away , which our current lifestyle is based upon. Climate change may or may not exist, I am not an expert, but to be honest I don't give a ckuf right now. It's not because i like cars that I'm afraid of the dissapearance of pertoleum products, this will have massive sideffects throughout our lives .

The Tesla is hardly an alternative now is it? It's not like electricity grows on trees. It would not surprise me if the Tesla was actually more polluting and less efficient than a modern petrol or diesel car. Charging batteries takes enormous amounts of energy and then the electricity has to be generated as well.

What if i told you our climat is cleaner now than 30 years ago.
and that its countrys like india and china that are the biggest polluters.
And that the most prolific green house gas is water vapour.
We in the western world are being taxed for fun not change.
