I am puzzled about the pre-occupation with armoured vehicles...does it have anything to do with modern warfare? Those are relics of the past. If Russia wants to show them, fine with me....

Electronic countermeasures will have a use in the future. Such as electronic reactive armor. Sort of like explosive reactive armor, except it is basically a system involving a multi-farad capacitor firing a charge at something (probably with the guidance of some kind of coil or magnet set up) moving towards the tank at speed x and above. What kind a high powered electric blast do to a missile? It could set it off several feet away from the tank, MASSIVELY reducing the amount of energy transferred to the tank's armor. Technically it is possible that enough electricity could be used to effectively evaporate or reduce to plasma, a large portion of the missile, also reducing the firepower against the tank to shreds.

Currently it is just being researched, but the only reason to prevent it from working currently really is just developing a system that can deal with things moving at supersonic speeds with little/no warning other than movement, and getting a capacitor that will make the system at least vaguely efficient. Same goes for laser weaponry research too (except it is not as far along due to issues with dumping enough power at once to cause an explosion of sorts - currently they just burn, which is banned 4598359786 times over in warfare laws)

no, I was actually puzzled about the futile comparisons of the US tank with the Russian tank. These are both anachronisms.
If Russia wants to be a superpower, they will do that in a different way, by controlling their natural resources (not only oil and gas) and making people dependent on them....The USA has already been totally blackmailed by the Saudis...

Actually military power doesn't play such a big role in the world policies nowadays. It's more about economical, informational and ideological war, which almost no one would notice.
