AL vs NL interleague play thoughts??
ESPN: Debate NL vs. AL supremacy with Jayson Stark - SportsNation
Whats your guys' thought? Is the National League catching up with the American League or is there still quite a gap? Both leagues were kinda closer for interleague play this year. Personally i think the AL is still superior and im on the fence as to wether or not they are closing the gap. I think the NL is still the faster league but i think the pitching is better in the AL (even without yohan santana) and that article says the NL is out hitting the AL but when i watch a NL game vs and AL game it just seems to me that the AL teams are better. The article also makes an interesting point about how the NL has superpowers and the AL doesn't. Although to me (besides the tigers) it seems like the bad teams in the NL are worse than the bad teams in the AL (i love not seeing the royals on that list). Whats your take so far this year on the AL vs the NL?

I like interleague play, mainly for the Crosstown Classic (Cubs/White Sox) but I like to see the other regional rivalries too, it mixes things up a little.
BTW I think the NL has better pitching - Carlos Zambrano, Brandon Webb, Jake Peavy, Edison Volquez, etc... |

NL definitely has some great pitching and some of the hottest hitters are currently in the NL (Berkman, Soriano). I think that the gap is closing but some of the best teams are still in the AL; Boston mainly. But a lot of the preseason favs are underachieving; Detroit, Cleveland to some degree, the Yankees but most of the NL teams are living up to the hype minus a couple (Milwaukee and Colorado I'm looking at you) but the CUBS! and the D-Backs and the Dodgers, etc.

with the difference in rules any retard can deduce that pitching in the AL MUST BE better than the NL by default, and batting better in the NL by default as well
and as for the NL having really good winning teams and really bad losing teams, well yeah it has to be that way. why is that even a point? with so little inter-league play those wins in the winning teams' W column must come from somewhere right? it doesnt even matter anyways, it is all opinion, you will only really know after the world series, but i must admit baseball has one of the best all-star games ever. the players actually have to try in those games
