China is mean
The Chinese pulled a Milli-Vanilli during the Opening Ceremony - Fourth-Pla... - Olympics - Yahoo! Sports
the cute little girl who sang that song in the beginning of the olympics was actually lip syncing. They put here up there because the girl who actually sang the song was deemed "too ugly" by the politburo.

It was obvious that the girl was lip-syncing. Didn't the organisers notice that during rehearsals? Didn't they predict that it was possible for a little girl to "underperform" and make everyone realise that she was lipsyncing?
I am sure that they could have selected a girl that fulfilled the criteria of appearance and voice just as well - after all the Chinese are almost 2 billion.... 1 of them would do the job. This incident for m just shows incompetence on behalf of the person responsiblr for the selection of the girl... If he selected another girl in the first place, we wouldn't be talking about a "mean China" now. Oops! I hope all this is not censored in China.....

The footsteps across the sky were fake feeds aswell, they deemed it too dangerous for the helicopter pilot to fly above fireworks - But the fireworks still went off in beijing - no harm no foul. Does it really matter if they got a girl to lip-sync? maybe if it were a real professional performer - other wise no.

I'm not upset they lipped synched. thats fine. It's to be expected.
What I'm pissed off about is that they chose the girl with the cute face over the girl with talent. Still, I guess it's quite telling of an Olympics keen to present the right image to cover up the thankless work of thousands.
