I am too sensible to be quickly offended.

Alright, back on topic guys.

So I own a Mac too. I'm proud of that. Although I do realize that generally, people who do own Macs really are the artsy type, and I'm exactly not that. But I do like the Mac, sort of. I do realize that Windows is not the only OS out there, and I can learn more by challenging and trying new stuff. So if I do come across a Mac someday, I'll know something. What a challenge it is.

And besides, I run Windows on it too. It's no big deal. But I force myself on Mac anyway, because I'm too lazy to change it over in Boot Camp.

But yeah, I haven't had the time to mess with RAW images yet though. I heard that the Macs open them with no problem at all? Is that true? I should try it, but I don't have time yet. Freaking school.

So yeah, they are overpriced, and so be it. The consumer/customer is alright right. Because they chose to buy the product in the first place. Period. And then you can make fun of them afterwards.

I got my first Mac about 1 moth or so ago. One of the new MBPs (2.4gHz,4GB RAM, 7200rpm HDD). I love it. Works great and is very speedy, the screen is lovely too, LED backlighting makes a huge difference.

My hard disk died in 6 months (on a HP), and a friend of mine lost his hard disk in 4 years, with a Toshiba. so it really doesn't matter what you are using, if a pc or a MAC.

as for RAW files, for OS X those are common files, it opens them as if they were jpegs with no problem at all. both Vista and XP tend to get a little "busy" if you open a folder with more than...5 RAW files.

I have a macbook pro but don´t indulge in fan boy stuff.
However i do think that for laptops they have the best offer.
The hardware is good and the case is way better in packaging and durability than the rest. And for anything other than gaming and to connect some hardware that only has drivers for windows i use osx. Even for windows i have a virtual machine and it works fine and links perfectly with osx (vmware fusion). Note that I´m studying electrical and computer engineering so i do give it some good workout with circuit or model simulators.

That's very cool. I had no software to open the RAW files, so I had issues with just looking through my photos and seeing which ones were keepers or throw aways.

I need to experiment more with my Mac!

Yup. I don't like VMWare Fusion all too much, because I don't have the need to run it in Mac. I just use Boot Camp.

you have the Nikon D40 right? there is a sort of driver made by Nikon, working with Xp and Vista, but it's very slow. Mac, as stated, doesn't require something at all.

Right, I own a PC with Vista and Windows 7 (and a ton of other Windows OSes on Virtual PC, including XP Pro </dork>) and I plan on buying a MacBook in the near future.

IMO desktop PCs are made for Windows (gaming etc.), and laptops have to be Macs. That's how I've always seen the computer world, and always will.

So I'm not joining either bandwagons. I can enjoy both side-to-side. Vista is far from being bad if you know how to run it, and manage it so it won't become slow. It isn't that hard. Moreover, come on people, 8GB of 1GHz DDR2 RAM costs $220 with taxes and shipped. Guaranteed it won't be slow after that.

So yeah, congrats on the purchase SupraMan.
