Not sure, If they both bring it in I'd have to assume some changes.

also the phrasing makes it sound like a lack of AWD is a subaru trademark, lol.

Are you kidding? a Subaru that doesn't look like ass?

you know they're going to take the reasonably inoffensive shape of the FT-86 and apply some sort of boss-eyed retardedness to it. It wouldn't be a Subaru otherwise.

Sadly I see this car becoming the preserve of the Fully Sik brigade, who by then will have moved on from Lancer Coupes......

So, everywhere else the Subaru will be four wheel drive? Or that both options will be available? Or that it will be rear wheel drive only? I'm confused.

It looks as though the car will be non-AWD everywhere.

which is...strange.

So finally Subaru will be a proper driver's car company. And as a result we should stop liking it. Just to confuse everyone a little bit more.

Don't be sure it'll be a "proper" drivers car.

I will bet money that it will be a FWD car....because they penny pinchers will have gotten to it.

The car is 100% RWD, hence the 86 in the name refering to the toyota AE86 sprinter.. Toyotas director is keen to inject some life into the brand, and is keen to bring back the spice in toyota cars, a la supra/celica/MR2.

Subaru has a brand image in australia of being 100% AWD, of which Subaru Australia has a keen intrest in keeping that image. so there was a while where we were not sure to get the car.

I see. I guess that since they sell the front wheel drive Justy here it's not such a problem. IIRC a while ago they were considering selling front wheel drive versions of the Impreze to benefit from the improved fuel consumption, something they already do in Japan.

I can totally imagine Toyota going "RWD is quite expensive...we might just make it FWD...."

Hand on heart, whatever the director says.

Funny you say that, because Subaru makes that same claim too, in America at least.
