"A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex.

The University Clinic of Lubek said they had never heard of a case like it after examining the couple who went to see them last month for fertility tests.

Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving.

A clinic spokesman said: 'When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: 'What do you mean?''.

'We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate.'

The 30-year-old wife and her 36-year-old husband are now being given sex therapy lessons while the university clinic undertakes a study to try to find out if there are more couples with a similar lack of sex education."

The couple were stupid, were in a religious sect and were German.
So in it's entirety, Cotterick's statemtn was reasonable IMHO.

and I assumed his final comment on 'society' was wrt the religious sect this couple were brought up in.

If you in some way feel agrieved about the german religious sect, then lets hear the debate.

I think you definately missed the point in my post.

If they were stupid religious Scots then I WOULD definately agree.
Nationality nor religion doesn't preclude stupidity.

Defending it is showing a narrow view of the strength of a nation, it's national pride and people. Do you think there are NO stupid Germans ?
So do you want to hide them away or call them something else ?

One attribute the Scots are loved for the world over is we aren't afraid to laugh at ourselves, point out the stupidity of things we do and especially our politicians. Shame that only the last part seems common with other folks

Have the conviction to come here and point out the concern.

As a mod, I've PMed a few folks who've asked for posts to be removed/edited etc. and with one exception they were all resolved by me asking the person to consider the comment from another viewpoint.
If folks hit neg reps for misunderstandings then it makes the rep system pointless. If cotterick werwe to continue a tirade then I'd agree a rep point would be worthy. But one comment that is in fact TRUE ?????
