Thats nice! What type of ships is it? Commercial or private yachts/smaller boats?

Julia is doing fine, though she wants to go racing soon..
Not racing until 28-29th of august unfortunately..
Have a good summer in Croatia Knut!

Was up in Pittsburgh this past weekend with my cousin and some friends. Saw a white 1969 Mercury Cougar on the way up. In Pittsburgh there's a cab company (Classy Cabs) that has a couple of stretched Ford Five Hundreds and Mercury Montegos. I'd never seen that before, and I thought they looked rather cool.

On the way back, I saw a truck that puzzled me a bit. The back part was a big open-topped box that sloped at the bottom to the center with a conveyor belt poking out the rear. I had no idea what it was for until we got next to it at a tollbooth and was able to read the writing on the side. It was a truck for hauling potatoes! (manufactured by a company called Spudnik) I suppose the potatoes go in the top and are unloaded from the bottom rear on the conveyor belt. The odd thing was that the cab part of the truck was from a sawmill in Minnesota (and it was a chassis-cab, so this was all one unit).

Also saw an old green Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

Why?

There was a radio ad a few months ago that said there were like 40 something in Canada, so there may be more than 50, but not many more.

EDIT: About 4,300 have been made.

Driving through Guildford yesterday a 4yr old Vauxhall Corsa SRi was half on the kerb with a smashed rear bumper, both rear wheels lying on the road next to it and the front wheels pointed in at the top and out at the bottom.

Passed a black Lamborghini Murcielago going the opposite way in traffic, I've seen planty before but even from my car which is still pretty low the Murcie looked posetively tiny.

And finally, standing outside work in the evening, a bright red Porsche 911 (997) GT3, a black Audi RS4 Avant, a black RS4 Cabriolet, a Ford Mustang GT350 and a grey Nissan GTR which i presume were making their way home from Goodwood Festival of Speed.

i just returned from my trip to california, and yesterday evening i saw something amazing. not one, but 2 old bentleys.

the first was a BRG Speed 6, thats right, from the 30s. trucking along down the freeway at 70+ mph. it was truely a thing of beauty.

after leaving the highway, we saw another one that i couldnt really tell when it was from. i think it was late 40s, early 50s. i coul d be all screwed up and it be prewar, but i dont think so.

anyway. awesome sights all around, and the number of classic cars on the roads was immense. i cant wait to move.

went out for a walk at lunchtime and saw a mid 60's ford mustang coupe, a mini clubman (the leyland one, not the bmw one), an aston martin (db6 i think) and a wolseley 15/60.

got a pic of the clubman but not the others - haven't downloaded it from my phone yet though.

Rare these days to see oddballs like that hulking Humber, the big Mercedes 219, and that pretty Jag of course (XK140?). Seeing a Triumph 2500 is also unusual these days, but less so when it's (a) not moving (b) sitting on the forecourt of a repair shop
actually there still are a few of the triumphs still about - there's a couple of them that i see quite regularly, and they seem to be in daily use. there was also a morris major hiding behind the other cars in one of those photos, but all you can see of it is a bit of the roofline and the tailfins. one day when i went past this place they were trying to get a dodge phoenix into the workshop at the side. access is by a small laneway and they seemed to be having trouble getting it in!

this one has been on display in a showroom at five dock in sydney's inner west for some time now. sorry about the poor quality of the photo, but it's the best you're going to get from me. it was taken at night through a window - there's no way i was going to walk into a bentley showroom during business hours and start taking pictures of their cars.

I once rented above a backyard Triumph & Vanguard spares/wrecker operation and confess that experience kinda put me off the brand. Not so much the cars but their (then) penny pinching owners. You couldn't believe how scabby they were. With my own eyes I witnessed a Triumph 2000 'enthusiast' come in and purchase a USED oil filter, for $4

As a result of a financial emergency in the 1970s I traded (way) down into a be-finned Major Elite with the unique 'aussie bigblock' 1620cc. Well it took me all of three days ownership to blow the Morrie's notoriously fragile diff to smithereens. So it was a brief but intense interlude at best

Nice pics Helen M and a warm welcome to UCP. Please feel free to use the pic-attachment system for the benefit of dial-up members
