First days you started to pay attention to cars

Oh, I remember those days, my first favorite car was the Mustang , that makes me sad, now that my favorite is the 911 GT1 from Porsche

actually. when i was about 9 months to a year old, my parents told me that i could name cars when i saw them. like jaguars and mercedes. and i still make the same sound when i see a lamborghini or XKR or something. but from about 3-15 i didn't know much about cars. then when i started playing GT2 i became interested in cars again and now i know a whole lot. actually it's been about less than a year ago since i got into cars again, and i still know a lot.

Before i was born both my Dad and my Grandad raced cars, i used to go along to watch from a very early age. My first favorite car has to be the Cooper Bristol since my Grandad used to drive it, i Also liked the Aston Martin AMV8 but I cant find a picture of one.

When I was really young I thought the Renault 19 Cabrio looked cool with the roof down. I think it was the way that the seats had small streamlinging bits behind them that caught my eye... see pic here. You could say I still have eccentric car tastes 10 years later - I want a yellow Rover 220 Turbo Coupe

Ford Falcon XR8 or anything else with a Ford badge on it(apart from laser Fiesta etc etc).. Back in the day. Still a good car. And the Porsche 911. I was absoloutely obsessed with cars from the day I was born. Right now I can take a drive and name every single car I see on the way and roughly what year it is. I could say BP when I went past petrol stations when I was about 2 years old. I also liked Mitsubishi Sigma's becuase my parents had one back then . I used to get out about 15 car magazines out of the library and read them all in about 2 or 3 days and I also used to look at the little things in car windows that say what the car is and thats how I know every car on the road.

My dad was always building and repairing cars and from an early age I got my hands dirty.
Completely stripped and rebuilt an Anglia 105E gearbox when I was 10 and it worked ( I've always wondered if Dad restripped and rebuilt it when I was sleeping
Being the youngest I was 7 when my eldest brother started driving and bought a Mini.
My first love.
Continued the self-servicing philosphy and learned Minis while brother rallied.
Then started competing with him when I was 15.
Progessed to an Imp for half a season ( burying it into the rear axle of a snow-gritter stoped that seasons rallying )
Then onto the Escort Mexico and Twin Cam.
Escort was great fun and a helluva lot faster, but I still preferred the Mini and it became my first car.
Then brother saw a new Matra and we ordered 2 from local dealer in UK as special imports ( company cars )
My 18 year love of Matras began.
Always loved the A110 when ever I saw one.
Would still want one, but they're getting to be silly prices.
So the A610 remains my track beast.

All the cars were my "best car" at the time.
Ranking them I'd put the A110 first.
Then Mini with 1340 bored engine with straight-cut Jack Knight box.
Then A610
Bagheera
Escort
Audi Quattro S2

I can't remember exactly how old I was (maybe 3-4 years old) when my oldest brother took me for a spin in his friend's Sunbeam Tiger. Scared the s**h out of me
